Emily's second birthday was last week. We can't believe we have a 2 year old... the time has gone by so fast!
Look how big she is! She is 23 lbs and 33 inches tall! She looks more like a little person than a baby now.
Emily and Dad started the day off with Emily's favorite breakfast... Mickey Mouse pancakes! Then I got off work early in order to pick up the balloons and other things for the party. When I got home we let Emily open one of her presents. She loved ripping the paper. And as you can see below, she loved what was inside, her new birthday clothes. That is her great camera smile. What a nut!

We had a princess birthday party for Emily and I think her Castle Cake turned out really cute! I was really worried that the towers would fall off at the party because the icing was starting to melt. Luckily it lasted!
Emily's favorite part of the party decorations was the BALLOONS! She saw me coming into the house with them and started screaming, "My Balloons! My Balloons!" She loves balloons and carried the blue one around all day. She also liked the "Snow White" balloon as well.
Finally it was time for the party. Emily had been waiting not so patiently all day. She kept asking if it was "Party Time?" We got everything ready and took it down to the Christensen Park in Bloomington. We had a hot dog barbecue and watermelon (Emily's favorite food). Below is a picture of Emily with Great-Grandma Farnsworth or "NANA." Emily has on her birthday princess hat.
The party was a lot of fun. I think Emily's favorite part of the party was when she got to do what every princess gets to do... ride a pony!
Our friends, Stacy and Stacy Richan have a horse down at the corrals near the Christensen Park and when Stacy heard we were having Emily's party down there, she told us to take her down and ride their horse, Nevada. Stacy got the horse saddled up and ready to ride and then he lead Emily around the arena on Nevada. He had Russell walk along just in case Emily fell but she didn't she held on really tight and had the biggest smile on her face the whole time. Every time Stacy would lead the horse back to us Emily would say "More! More!" so he would take her around again and again. She loved it!
Then they had me get on and ride with Emily. I knew I was going to fall off and kill myself but I managed to stay on. When we got back to Russell and the top of the arena, Emily said "Down Mom!" She was done riding with me, she wanted to ride by herself again. Finally she got thirsty and needed a "drink o' wada" so she willingly got off the horse without a fuss. I was worried that she would be scared of the horse because of its size but she wasn't scared a bit. She ran right up to the horse and waited for some one to lift her up on. We thanked Stacy for letting us ride Nevada. It was really fun. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
When we got back to the party, we cooked hot dogs and ate dinner.
We also played games like "Pin the Crown on the Princess." Russell drew the beautiful Snow White for the game. Isn't he a great artist!
Afterward, we sang "Happy Birthday" as Emily blew out the candle on her cake. I think she was a little startled that the flame would go out when she blew. Her face looked really surprised.
Finally Emily got her cake and ICE CREAM! She woke up at about 3 in the morning asking if it was time for ice cream yet. I told her not yet go back to sleep. Then all throughout the day she was asking for ice cream. I'll tell you what this girl does not forget anything so you have to be careful what you say.
While eating her ice cream she asked me if she could have a picture with her favorite cousin, Chrislyn. How could I say no...
Present Time!! Emily's favorite part was ripping the paper off the presents. She didn't really seem to care what was inside she just ripped the paper off, looked at the present, said "OH BOY!" and then set it aside and was off to the next present. When all of the presents were open, she looked around and said "More presents?" She was kind of disappointed when we said she was done. Then we brought out her big present...a new trike!
Emily was with us when we bought this and was really excited but then really confused when we got home and couldn't find the trike anywhere in the house because we had hidden it. So when we brought it out at the party she was so excited again and wanted to get on and ride. She hasn't figured out how to peddle herself yet. She just likes us to push her.
In all it was a great birthday party and Emily had a lot of fun riding the horse, being with cousins, and eating ice cream. Thank you to all who came and celebrated with us and for all of the great presents, Emily loves all of them.
