Well the boys were definitely growing out of their toddler beds so it was time to get them some real beds. Our neighbors were getting rid of their kids' bunk beds and said that if we wanted them we could have them. We jumped on the offer and said yes. Then they threw in the mattresses and mattress covers as well. We felt so grateful! Russell sanded them down and restrained and varnished them and they look as good as new! The only problem now was finding bedding. I made Emily a quilt to put on her bed when she moved to a real bed so I felt like I needed to do that for the boys too. So I put on my "Quilter Mom" hat and made two twin sized quilts for the boys' new bunk beds.
Lets just say they pretty much LOVE their new quilts and bunk beds! While we were in St. George for Spring Break, Russell set the beds up for the boys. They were so excited to sleep in their new bed the first night. The next day they asked me if they could sleep in their bunk beds again that night. Of course I said, "Yes you can sleep in them every night!" They literally jumped for joy. Because they are an older style of bunk beds, the top bunk does not have a safety rail. We thought about building one on but couldn't figure out how to do it without ruining the bed so we didn't. We figured that Colby jumped off higher things than that bed on the playground all the time. We did warn him though that he had to be careful and not roll off at night. He decided to sleep right up next to the wall so that he wouldn't fall off. Pretty smart thinking, right? So far, thankfully, we have not had any falls.

Colby loves Classic cars so when my mom and I found this fabric panel and the matching material, I knew it would be perfect. I had a picture in my head of how I wanted the quilt to be but no pattern so I made my own pattern. I absolutely love how this quilt turned out. I am working on a matching pillow sham now.
Next is Logan's quilt:
As everyone knows, Logan loves trains and anything Thomas the Train. So I knew I had to make a train quilt for him. My mom and I found this cute series of matching train print and fell in love with it. I also made my own pattern for this one after seeing a picture of a similar quilt. I love how this quilt turned out too and so did Logan. I am also working on a matching pillow sham.
Rather than stopping at two quilts I decided to make two more while I was at it. I had a bunch of fabric left over from Logan's quilt so I decided to make a similar baby quilt for Traci's new baby coming soon in May.
This quilt also turned out so darling and I almost wanted to keep it for myself rather than give it away! But I did give it to Traci and Sean and they loved it too. Traci said those were the exact colors they were going to decorate their nursery in. I am so glad they liked it.
Finally, as I was going through my stash of fabric, I found this cute Looney Tunes panel and decided to put it together while I was at it. It is also very cute and who knows I might use it for our new baby if it is a boy. We will have to see.
A lady my mom knows really well quilted all of these quilts for my on her quilting machine. She also put the backs and batting in them for a really good price. Then I bound them all and finished them up. Sometimes I can be pretty domestic if I want to be... I'm glad they turned out so well and that the boys love them.
