Look at this handsome young man. He has sure grown up way to fast and is turning 8 years old already! Colby is a great son and we love him so much.
This picture looks more like a missionary photo than an 8 year old baptism picture!
For his birthday party this year, Colby chose to go ice skating with his best friends. We went to the Eccles Ice Arena and had a blast. This group of boys are really tight and love being around each other.
We started his party with opening presents and of course getting ice skates on all of them. Colby loved the presents he received. The one he loved the most was the Bey Blades. He has yet to stop playing with them.
Once the presents were open, it was time to see how good the boys were at skating. Off they went and they all did very well. Logan and Noah had to rely on the walkers to help but after a bit they were out there tearing it up on the ice.
They made up a game where they were a train and everyone grabbed each others waists and off they went. It was a great way to watch them and see them balance on each other and not fall. There were many slips and falls but the boys didn't seem to care, they were just having fun. They did have some races and other competitions between themselves including who could fall the least.
After skating for about an hour and a half, they we were all pooped and it was time to take a break. We ended the party with cupcakes and ice cream. Everyone seemed to have a great time. Colby loved being with his friends and said it was the best party! Later that night, we went out to eat as a family at the kids' favorite restaurant, Pizza Pie Cafe.
For Colby's cake this year, I made him a figure eight race track. He thought it was the coolest cake ever.
It was really simple to make but also turned out very cute! We decided we hadn't had enough cake or desserts this week so on Monday, Colby's actual birthday, we had even more cake and ice cream. It was time to blow out the candles on the birthday cake.
Colby was able to blow out all of the candles so hopefully his wish comes true.
Then it was more present time!
Because this is Colby's 8th birthday, most of his presents had to do with his upcoming baptism. He received new scriptures, ties, baptism books, church shoes and clothes, and some toys as well. He loved them all.
His favorite though, besides his Bey Blades from his friends, was this Lego Ninjago set. He put it together in like ten minutes and then had to show it off.
Here are some funny pictures of Colby. Don't ask me why we cannot have a nice picture taken. They are all funny faces...
Charlotte had to get in on the pictures too.
If you don't know what a Bey Blade is, here is a video. They are basically like tricked out battling tops. The boys are obsessed.
I don't know why they are so hooked on these things but they are. They love them! If I want the boys to do anything, I have to threaten to take the Bey Blades away and they will do anything for me.
A week after Colby's birthday, we took a trip down to St. George for Cassie's wedding. While we were there, Russell and I took Colby out to take some baptism pictures for his announcements and baptism display. I absolutely love how they turned out.
The first place I wanted to go was Snow Canyon but unfortunately the guard was on duty so we would have had to pay. We decided that was not worth it so we drove to Tuachan instead. These pictures are in front of their waterfall.
Next we headed to the St. George Temple. This is where we got the bulk of the pictures and the ones that I think turned out the best.
Once again, doesn't he look like a little missionary!! For being the amateur photographer that I am, (okay let's be real, I have know idea what I'm doing...) I think the pictures turned out great! I was glad that he would actually smile and cooperate with these pictures. He even seemed to be having fun with them. Then it started to get cold and the last few pictures turned out like this:
Crying... Oh well we did get some super good ones before this moment. I wanted to take some around the Logan Temple like Emily's but the weather has been really crappy and this time of year up here is really kind of ugly with the snow melting and everything still looking dead from winter. I was glad we made a trip to St. George because the weather and scenery is always good.
Happy 8th Birthday, Colby. We Love You Little Man!
