As you know, one of our favorite things to do in the spring is attend Baby Animal Days at the American West Heritage Center. It is always a great way to get out and see some adorable baby animals and enjoy the warmer weather. We were especially excited this year because we were actually able to go. Last year at this time everything was shut down due to Covid-19. Because of that, Baby Animal Days didn't happen at least not like it usually does. This year though, some of the restrictions are starting to lift and we were able to do an actual in person festival! Of course we still had to wear masks but I guess that is a good trade off.
Even though the baby was due any day, I still signed up to work in the ticket booth for a few days during the festival. I really like working at the American West Heritage Center every so often. It's fun and the people there are really great. Since I am an employee, our family gets in to most of the events for free. So the day before the baby was born, we decided to go check out the baby animals.
The baby chicks and ducklings are always fun to hold. They are wiggly though so we have to really hold on tight. Their little feathers are so soft.
Next we got to pet the bunnies.
Every time we see a bunny and get to hold and pet it, we wish we still had our rabbit. Rabbits are also really soft and cuddly.
Another one of our favorites are the baby turtles!
These little guys are so small! They fit right in the palm of your hand and crawl around. I could probably sit all day and hold these little turtles and let them crawl around my hands.
In addition to these babies, we also saw and got to pet baby calves, goats, piglets, sheep, and more. We also got to see a few baby bears from Bear World near Yellowstone.
These little bears were so adorable!! Most of them were just sleeping. But there was one little bear that was walking around looking at everyone. He would even stand up on the side of the pen to say hi to us. And then sit down and look around. He was so cute!
After seeing all of the animals, it was time to check out the train and pony rides. All of the kids still like riding on the train but Charlotte is the only one able to ride on the ponies anymore.
She loved every minute of the pony ride and even waved her arm to me as she passed. This was definitely her favorite part.
That is until we passed the cotton candy booth, then she had to have some. Luckily her dad loves her too much and got her a cotton candy to share.
By the time we were leaving, Charlotte had cotton candy all over her face, hands, hair and everything in between. She loved it!
I am glad we were able to attend Baby Animal Days this year and enjoy the animals. Now it is time to be ready for our baby to come.
