Charlotte turned 8 years old on her birthday and made the awesome choice to be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was such a special day because she got to be baptized on her actual 8th birthday, September 7. Here is Charlotte to tell us a little bit about her special day:
"Me and my mom took pictures for my Baptism on Saturday. I wore my Baptism dress. It was white and pretty. I had my Book of Mormon. I was at the Logan temple. I tried my best to smile big. It was fun to take pictures in my Baptism dress.
My mom made an "It's Great to be 8" cake. It was white and pink with pink sprinkles. I ate the cake that said, "It's great to be 8." I ate the whole thing and I was full after that. I loved it.
This is my invitation to my Baptism. We could fit three pictures and my whole name. We gave them to my friends and family so they could come to my baptism.
When I got dressed we took pictures with my whole family and my grandparents.
My mom put out my pictures and my Baptism book and my Aunt Jen gave me a flower. It was pretty. My mom added a little Jesus she got from girls camp.
I felt really nervous at my Baptism but also happy because I was glad I was getting Baptized because I would get the Holy Ghost. My favorite part was the part where I got Baptized. The water felt warm and my Baptism clothes got tight on my belly when I got in the water. I am really glad I got baptized!"
I am really glad Charlotte decided to get baptized as well. The program was really nice with Charlotte picking the speakers and songs. Afterward she was all smiles.
Charlotte was excited to see some of her friends at her baptism too.
Everett and Maverick were able to come as well as her friend, Sophie, and her primary teachers, Brother and Sister Klausen.
Back at the house, after her baptism, we took a bunch of pictures of everyone that came. It was a party.
Charlotte was so excited to have so many family members come up and see her get baptized as well as celebrate her birthday with her. We don't often have so many family members around so it is always a treat when they come and support us and be with us.
Before her baptism, Charlotte got to open a few presents.
She loved her new necklace and CTR ring and was able to wear them for her baptism.
After pictures, we had a family luncheon at our house. Everyone helped get all of the food out and ready to eat. Before we ate, we cut open our huge watermelon from our garden.
Charlotte had brought home the seeds for this watermelon last year so she was excited to see if they would grow. Well grow they did and we got this huge watermelon from it as well as a couple others. Charlotte was so proud of her seeds. The watermelon tasted amazing just like any home grown fruit or vegetable does.
Lunch was a hit and we loved being together and celebrating with Charlotte. It is always nice to be with family and friends.
Charlotte loved all of the gifts she received for her birthday and baptism. Her favorites were probably her new Chacos, which she had been wanting forever, and her very own set of scriptures. She also received a bunch of fun gifts from everyone else and she was happy to receive them.
As she mentioned before, her cake was the shape of an 8 and she loved it. We almost forgot to get the cake out though because there was so much food at lunch. Happy Birthday Charlotte!
After most of the people had gone home, we took Grandma and Grandpa Morwood and the Pryors up to Porcupine Reservoir to see the Kokanee Salmon Run.
We love seeing the Salmon Run every fall. We usually go toward the middle or end of September, I think, so we were not sure if the salmon were spawning yet. We decided it was worth the drive to find out. Grandma and Grandpa Morwood had been to see the Salmon in years passed but Tami and Roy had never been there. The salmon were running but it was a little hard to get to the river in the spot we usually go. We decided to drive up a little farther to Cinnamon Creek campground and ask the missionaries if we could see the salmon from there. They were more than willing to let us go in and even showed us the best viewing places along the river. We were grateful for that because it made viewing much easier and we didn't have to climb any steep hills. The pictures are a little hard to see but the fish were all over. We were even able to watch them jump up a couple of small waterfalls. It was pretty fun to watch. Tami and Roy and Grandma and Grandpa liked it too.
When it started to get dark, we decided to go get something to eat. Charlotte wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse for her birthday so that is what we did.
The reason she wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse was so she could ride on the birthday saddle! Well that is exactly what she got to do and she loved every minute of the attention.
When we got home, we got to play with little Monroe!
He is probably the cutest little boy! He looks so much like Clint it's crazy. Monroe loved playing with all of our Little People toys but most of all he loved riding Donkey Hodie! He wasn't sure about it at first because he kind of got bounced off. Once he tried again though and figured out how to stay on, he loved bouncing on the little donkey. Brooklyn was okay with sharing her Donkey Hodie but was definitely not going to let Monroe take it home. She loved playing with her little cousin even if Monroe only wanted to play by himself.
Charlotte had a great birthday and baptism day. I think it is so cool that she was able to get baptized on her birthday. She will never forget the day she was baptized.
Congratulations on making this amazing decision and following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ by getting baptized. I know this is the first step to take to return to live with our Heavenly Father. I hope you remember the covenants and promises you made on this day and always remember and try to be like Jesus. If you do this, His Spirit and the Holy Ghost will always be with you to comfort and help you throughout your life. I love you so much! Happy Birthday Charlotte!
