Merry Christmas from the Farnsworth's!!
Our Christmas this year was pretty quiet and just nice. We didn't go anywhere or have to do anything so we just hung out at home and played games.
Russell had to work on Christmas Eve so after dinner we headed over to the Fire Station to spend some time with him on Christmas Eve.
While we were there the kids opened their Christmas pajamas and we read the story of Christ's birth from the scriptures. After that, Russell had to go on a call so he left. We cleaned up and left soon afterward as well.
The kids were excited to get to bed so they could wake up on Christmas Morning.
Everyone slept in Emily's room that night. The girls squished onto the bed while the boys made beds on the floor.
The next morning I was tired so I didn't want to get up. Russell came home a little after 8:00 am and the kids were going a little crazy downstairs because they wanted to come up to see their presents. They did let me sleep until about 9:00 which was nice and then we let everyone up.
Everyone was excited to see what Santa had brought them.
Brooklyn loved everything she received especially her new elephant stuffy, Tiger book, and coloring Magna-Doodle.
When we opened presents from each other, Brooklyn loved her coloring book and crayons from Colby and gave him a big hug. She also loved her new Camelbak, purple jacket from Grandma, and more. Since she will start Sunbeam class this year in Primary she got her very own Book of Mormon.
Charlotte was also excited for her presents from Santa. She loved her Unicorn stuffy, Unicorn Diaries book, and the LED lights for her room she wanted. She also loved her new sled. Unfortunately we don't have any snow this year to try it out on.
For gifts from family Charlotte loved the Strawberry Shortcake Lego set from Logan. Grandma gave her a matching sweater like Brooklyn's. Her new headphones have been really great for playing Reflex on the computer and listening to music.
Logan was most excited about the Essential Handbook on Pokemon he received! This kid loves Pokemon. Logan also got a new helmet so he will be ready for mountain biking in the summer. He liked playing mini hoop shoot with Russell too.
Colby and Logan got similar gifts from Grandma Farnsworth. They each received a wooden puzzle block. Colby was able to figure his out but Logan would get his puzzle almost finished and then the block would tip over and break again. Finally he did solve it though. Logan also loved his Harry Potter Lego car set.
Colby's one wish for Christmas was a bike computer for his bike. This bike computer calculates his speed, altitude, cycle and tire revolutions, and more. He was excited to hook it up to his bike and try it out on the trainer. He also got a new helmet for riding.
Colby designed a money clip that had a mountain bike scene etched into it. He really wanted Calen to make it for him. Russell decided to make it for him for Christmas so he kept putting Colby off whenever he asked about going to see Calen. When he opened the money clip with his design, he was so happy and finally realized why we wouldn't take him to get one himself. He loved it! I was really surprised at how excited Colby and Logan were to receive plaid flannel pajama pants! They both immediately changed back into these new pajamas and wore them for the next two days... Emily was jealous and said she wanted a pair too. I guess these are all the rage. I had no idea.
Emily was also excited for a new biking helmet because her old one was getting pretty trashed. Her favorite gift was the Lego flower bouquet.
For gifts from family, Russell made her a jewelry box with a sweet note etched inside. I think she will cherish this for a while. She was also excited for new running shoes because her old ones were totally wore out. One funny gift came from Grandma Farnsworth. Grandma wanted her to be safe while she is running or out and about so she got Emily a taser/stun gun pen light and a travel bottle of mace. I told her to keep that taser in her pocket at all times just in case!
Russell was happy to receive the bike repair stand he has been wanting for a while. He has been working on bikes ever since putting it together. He was especially excited for the three bottles of What-A-Burger Spicy Ketchup he received from his friend Tyson.
I loved getting new running shoes and was excited to try them out the next day. Russell got me a sign for the door that says "Let it Snow...Somewhere else!" Emily gave me a key chain that I really love. It says, "It doesn't matter how old I get, I always need you Mom." I about teared up it was so sweet.
An exciting gift everyone received this year was Get Out Passes. These passes will be something we can use all year round to get us into different museums, amusement parks, Lagoon, the aquarium, and much more throughout the year. We are looking forward to using it often.
The Bassett's gave us something the kids have been wanting for a long time now, a Christmas blow up for the front yard. They wanted to put it up right then but I convinced them to wait until next year so we could enjoy it longer. We also received a big Connect Four yard game. We need to get that out and play!
For the rest of the day we just enjoyed playing games and eating good food. Then everyone brought out their Lego sets and we all worked together building everything.
Logan zoomed through his Lego instructions without help. This was Charlotte's first Lego set so we helped her a little. Emily's flowers took more time but together we made the colorful bouquet for her room.
My Christmas cactus is starting to bloom too!
I have always wanted a Christmas Cactus but I always kill every plant I have so I never bought one. This year I received this cactus as a gift and was excited to see it grow and bloom on Christmas Day! Hopefully I can keep it alive for a while.
For Christmas break we usually get out a puzzle to work on throughout the break. This year we received this puzzle for Christmas and it was fun to work together to put the puzzle together.
It turned out beautiful even though we stayed up way too late some nights working on it.
I hope you all had a great Christmas and remembered the true meaning of Christmas is Christ and what He has done for each of us. I love that this puzzle reminded us of that true meaning.
