For our 10 year anniversary, Russell and I took an awesome trip to Hawaii! We spent 6 days on the island of Oahu and had a great time exploring and seeing the sites. I know our actual anniversary is not until the end of July but by then I would be 35-36 weeks pregnant so we decided to celebrate now instead. We left the kids with my parents for the week and they had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa. Getting to Hawaii was half the fun... or half the struggle... We travelled all day long to get there. We left St. George at 4:00 am and rode the shuttle down to the Las Vegas airport. There we checked in our luggage and then waited for 2 hours to board our plane at 9:30. Airports are so much fun... not! Finally we boarded the plane in Las Vegas and flew for 45 minutes to Los Angeles. There we had another 4 hour layover before boarding our plane to Honolulu. Finally we boarded our plane in Los Angeles and flew for 5 and a half hours to Honolulu. Here we are finally on the plane:
We flew through the clouds over land and ocean all day long. The views were amazing especially as we came over the ocean and could see the island of Oahu.
When we finally arrived at the Honolulu airport, we were greeted with leis and a big Aloha!
The leis smelled so good and it was nice to finally be at our destination. After retrieving our luggage, we headed to our hotel room in Waikiki. We stayed at the Island Colony hotel Aqua Skyline. This hotel was one of the tallest buildings in Waikiki and we stayed on the 25 floor. Here is the view of the Waikiki strip from our balcony .
We were so exhausted after travelling all day long and having jet lag due to the 4 hour time difference. So after getting a few things from the grocery store, we went straight to bed. We would start our Hawaiian experience the next day.
