Monday was the annual Canyon Colt Leadership Run. This year our whole family participated and ran in the race.
The boys ran the 1 mile race with Charlotte. They did really well. Colby and Logan ran the whole way and got a great time of under 10 minutes. This year Emily wanted to run the 5K instead of the mile so she and I ran it together.
Emily did awesome!! She ran the whole three miles and we crossed the finish line together. We finished in 34 minutes. That is a great time for her first 5K. It was fun to run with her and cheer her on the whole way. It looks like I have a running buddy in the making! Good job, Emily!
Emily and Colby have been participating in the Running Club at the school so I have been going up and helping them out after school as well.
We run together every Wednesday and Friday. I will usually run a mile or so before meeting up with them at the school. Logan rides his scooter or bike along side while I push Charlotte in the stroller. Then we run with the rest of the kids on the team around to school block twice which is about 1.5 miles. Emily and Colby do really well running the mile and half. They are usually the first ones done. They usually average a 9:30 min/mile. It has been really fun having some good little runners to run with lately and they seem to like it too.
These two are my usual running buddies. I am so glad that it is finally spring and not so cold outside. It is great to finally be able to get outside and enjoy ourselves. I am also so grateful to finally be feeling good and back running and exercising.
The kids have also been enjoying the outdoors. Russell set up the trampoline not too long ago and the kids have been on that thing ever since. Colby and Logan are getting really good at their tricks especially flips.
Another fun thing Russell built for the kids is this awesome sandbox. He extended our old sandbox that was just under the playground to include and extend past the slide and back to the fence. It is quite big now and the kids love it! Charlotte will sit and play in the dirt all day if she could. Her favorite words are "play," "outside," "jumping," and "shovel." We love the sandbox and we love being outside.
