The Smithfield Health Days race was really fun this year. The kids and I ran the mile race and we all did great.
It was a pretty cold and rainy day but that didn't stop the kids from running the fastest ever. As they started the race, we were all ready to go. Emily wanted to place so she made her way to the starting line. When they said "Go!" She was off and headed for the lead. Colby stayed back with us until I told him to go catch Emily and then he took off too. Logan and I ran together with Charlotte in the stroller. We also made our way to the front of the pack and as we rounded the turn around spot we realized there weren't many ahead of us. Emily crossed the finishing first:
Colby crossed soon after her. Emily's time was her fastest race time at 9 minutes exactly. Colby also got a personal best time with a time of 9:42.
Logan and I came in a minute later.
Our time was 10:56. Russell was there at the end to cheer us on and take our finish line pictures. Logan did really great running. He was starting to get tired about halfway but he kept going strong until the end.
Well our hard work paid off and we were able to bring home some medals.
Emily came in second in her age group and Logan came in first in his age group. Colby didn't place but he did get a PR. And I placed first in the stroller division. How exciting!
We all did great and had a lot of fun. After the race we headed straight to Colby's soccer game and then Logan's soccer game after that. The boys were kind of tired in their game but still had fun. What a great day.
