Gingerbread Villages

The greatest part about Christmas is of course remembering the Savior and what he did, but Christmas would not be the same if we did not build our gingerbread houses. This has become a fun tradition ever year. It starts back on Halloween and the kids get a certain amount of candy and the rest goes in a bag downstairs to slowly get munched on. Not all of it gets eaten and we use the rest of the candy to build our gingerbread houses. It is fun watching the kids decorate their own houses. They are growing up and doing it all on their own.

There are so many different ways to decorated a house and after we decorated them it was time to eat the leftover candy. We had some different candies this year and it helped make the houses look even better. Between the Smartie and Skittle roofs and the candy cane chimneys all of the houses looked different and all were awesome.

Charlotte was so funny while making the houses.  She is our sugar addict so any time there is candy she goes crazy and wants to eat everything.  She would pick a candy from the table and ask Russell or me to open it.  We said, "Ok lets put it on your house."  and to that she said, "No! I eat it!"  It was so funny we just had to laugh.
Here is the end product of what every one's gingerbread houses looked like.

We love this tradition.  What a great little Gingerbread Village.
