The Super Hear-O 5K was a fun race to do with the kids. All of the proceeds went to buy hearing aids for kids who need them. We even got to meet Iron Man, Wonder Woman, The Hulk, and Captain America!
This was just a chill race, no timer or pressure, just fun. Becca and Taylor ran the 5K with Russell and me. I ran with Becca and Russell stayed with Taylor. These two girls were so excited to run a 5K with us. They begged Lacie to let them do it and they had a lot of fun. Then next day they complained about being sore though!
Here are Russell and Taylor racing to the finish line. They gave away prizes to the people with the best super hero costumes. Taylor dressed as Batman and Becca was dressed as Wonder Woman and they won a couple of prizes. At the costume judging, Taylor even did a cartwheel to show off her super powers. Too bad our Incredible's costumes were packed away or we would have won some prizes too!
After the 5K, there was a kids race that Emily, Colby, Logan, and Tyrel ran in. Here they go...
Emily was all business running as fast as she could in her new running shoes. Colby used his jacket to show off his super power of flying as he ran toward the finish line. Logan on the other hand did not care one bit for the race. He cried the whole time as Russell coaxed him to the end.
But it was all worth it when they finished and were able to get their finisher's medals! And of course the finish line food; bananas and Popsicles! All of the kids loved that. Way to go kids.
I was glad that the weather co-operated a little. When we arrived at the race to pick up our packets, it was raining on us and really cold. We were really debating on whether or not to back out. Then about 10 minutes before the race started, the rain stopped and we were able to run. This was a great family race and it was fun to support a great cause.
This is a picture of Justin Osmond finishing his 250-mile run as part of the fundraiser. Justin Osmond is one of the famous Osmond family. He is the nephew of Donny and Marie Osmond and the son of Merrill Osmond. Justin was born with hearing loss and is 90% deaf. He has not let this get him down though. He has dedicated his life to helping those with hearing loss. As part of this Run4Hearing fundraiser, Justin ran from Ephraim, UT to St. George, UT - 250 miles in one week. He was able to raise enough money to get hearing aids for 25 kids. We were there to see him cross the finish line and complete this amazing goal. Before I even knew who he was, I talked to Justin at the Kite Festival about a month ago as he was posing for a picture with the kids (he was dressed as Captain America). He asked me if I thought he was crazy. I told him he was crazy but because it was for an awesome cause I wished him good luck! I think what he did was amazing. The kids that got the hearing aids said that Justin was their super hero. I am glad we were able to be a part of this fun event.
