The kids kept asking when we were going to do our annual tradition of making gingerbread houses so finally we did it.
Now our gingerbread houses are nothing fancy. They are just graham crackers glued together and leftover Halloween candy with store bought frosting. To these kids though, it is the highlight of our Christmas traditions. This year all of the kids (except Charlotte of course) were able to decorate their own house however they wanted. They had so much fun just slabbing icing everywhere and carefully placing candy in the right spots. Each had their own ideas as well as copying the ideas from each other. Logan had an interesting way of gluing his candy on his house. He would put the icing on the candy, take a lick of frosting and then place the candy on his house. I think he ate more than what was on his house.
Here's our cute little Charlotte Baby and our finished houses. They all turned out really good! And here we are beside each of our houses:
Each house was different but each house was made with the designers own creativity! After we were done and cleaned up the huge mess, we displayed the houses as part of our Christmas decorations. Logan kept asking when he could eat his house but I told him is was a decoration we couldn't eat.
The leftover candy and supplies I used at Activity Days the next day. The girls had a little too much fun decorating their houses. I am pretty sure they ate more candy and frosting than they used on their houses. They were a little crazy by the end of the hour but we had a good time and they all went home with fun houses.
Merry Christmas from us! (even sad, hungry, and tired Charlotte...)
