Choir Concert

Emily had her final choir concert of the school year this week.  It was so fun to watch and listen too.  Like the Christmas concert that had Christmas songs from around the world, this concert also featured songs from every continent in the world.  It was called Children of the World and featured a song that was sung by children from all over the world during the opening ceremonies of the 2002 Olympics.
The first graders did a funny Mexican Hat dance to a couple of songs.

This dance was so fun to watch.  Emily had a great time dancing with her friend Ayzleigh.

Other songs they sang were from Africa, Ireland, Jamaica, Hawaii, and more.
Here is the whole Canyon Colt Choir.

Let's Play Music Recital

Colby and Emily have learned so much about music this year in their Let's Play Music classes.  This was Colby's first year in the program and he loved going to music class with his new friends Gideon and Owen.  This was Emily's third and final year in the program.  She has improved her piano skills so much and has learned a lot about music theory and technique.  I also learned a lot by going to class with her!  Their music recital was this week and they did so well.

Colby and the first years performed a musical puppet show for us.  They also sang the songs they had learned and performed on the bells.  Colby was excited to be in the recital even if he doesn't really look like it in these pictures.  They all did very well.

For the third years, each student composed their own piece of music and then preformed it for us.  They title of Emily's piece was "Me and Kit"  She wrote it about her playtime with her doll Kit.  I think she did very well and was the best one at the concert (but I may be a little biased!).  She did great though.
Then together the first and third years sang "Do, Re, Mi"  The recital was really good and all of the kids did a great job.

When the recital was over, each musician received a special award.  The kids were so excited to show off their certificate and prizes.

Here is Colby with is instrument and music teacher, Miss Natalie.  Colby loved being in her class.

Here is Emily with her instrument and music teacher, Miss Angela.  Emily learned so much from her and has enjoyed playing the piano this year.
Good Job Colby and Emily! You are both turning into great musicians.

Fire Pinning Ceremony

We have officially been in Logan for one year!  Russell's one year probation with Logan City is over and now we are in this career for the long haul.  The Fire Chief jokingly said he had to do something really stupid or mess up pretty bad to get kicked out now!  (I'm pretty sure that won't happen!)

We were able to attend Russell's pinning ceremony and see him get sworn in as an official Fire Fighter Paramedic with Logan City.

They even let me pin his new badge on him.  So there you have it, Russell is finally official and has the badge to prove it!

We are so proud of our dad who works so hard to provide for us in a job he loves so much.
It might be hard to read but Russell's badge now says "Fire Fighter Farnsworth Logan City Fire Department."

Congratulations Russell. We love you!!!

Evening Things Out

We went in for our 20-week ultrasound yesterday and we took all of the kids.  Each of the kids voted on what they hoped the new baby would be.  Emily of course voted for a sister,  Logan said it was a boy, and Colby was undecided.  I was pretty sure it was a girl based on my comparisons of the other pregnancies but I had started to second guess myself and was still wondering.  After checking all of the things the ultrasound tech was supposed to like heart, brain, organs, lip, and more, she was able to show us what we were adding to our family.

We are excited to announce that the boy vs girl score will be evening out in our family.  We are having a little girl!!
Isn't she pretty!  Emily was so excited that when she got back to school, she told everyone she was getting a new sister.  Colby was excited too even though he didn't really care either way.  He has been trying to help me pick a good name.  Logan on the other hand was devastated!  He cried the whole way out of the doctor's office saying that he wanted the baby to be a boy.  I thought that was so funny because is he really old enough to really care?  I guess so.  He has since come to terms with it even though he still tells me things like "If the baby is a boy..."

We are excited for another girl.  The crazy thing is though I don't have any baby girl things!  I have a few things from Emily but most of her stuff was generic because we didn't find out what we were having with her.  So my list of things to make and do has gotten pretty long.  Now I just need to find the motivation and funds to do all of those things.

We can't wait to welcome Baby Girl in September!

First Soccer Games

Emily and Colby wanted to do soccer again this year so we signed them up.  Soccer up here is a little different because the weather is so unpredictable!  Some days it is rainy and cold, other days it is very windy and freezing, and then other days it is nice and sunny.  Luckily, their first game was a nice sunny Saturday.  Here are some pictures from their first game of the season.

Emily's team is the Mountain Lions.  These girls are so funny to watch because they are all so timid.  They would rather just let the other team have the ball than steal from them or be aggressive.  It is fun to watch though because they try really hard.

Colby is really into playing soccer this year.  He is not afraid to go after the ball like he was last year.

His team is so funny to watch.  They chase that ball all over the field.  There are a couple boys that are really good but all of the players try their best and get in there and kick the ball.
This is a funny picture of Colby's team after the game.  They had so much fun they could not stop high-five-ing each other.

So there you have it we are starting another season of soccer.

Baby Animal Days

We have found a new tradition.  Baby Animal Days at the American Heritage West Center.  This event was so fun and the kids loved seeing all of the baby animals.  We were able to pet, hold and admire the cuteness of all of the baby farm animals.  We saw sheep and goats:

... and little piglets.  Colby was not so sure he wanted to pet the animals but Emily and Logan were not afraid.  Then we saw a couple of baby cows too.

The donkey was not very enthusiastic for the picture...  Probably the best part of the Baby Animal Day was holding the baby chick and ducklings.

The kids loved then and didn't want to let them go.  To tell you the truth, I loved holding them too.  They were so soft and fluffy.

We tried our had at rubber band shooting before heading to the other side of the Heritage West Center.  On the other side, we saw more baby piglets and cows.

Next we waited in a long line to see the cute baby bear cubs from Yellowstone.
Too bad it was nap time but they were cute anyway.  We now want to go to Bear World near Rexburg and see more baby bears.

We also got to see a snake (eww!) and then we moved to the Pioneer Encampment where we made handkerchief dolls just like the pioneers.  The dolls turned out pretty cute.
No trip to the Heritage West Center would be complete without a pony ride.  As you can see from the look on their faces, these kids love riding the ponies and it was the highlight of the day.  We really like going to the Heritage West Center and they put on a lot of fun activity days and festivals so we decided to buy a year pass so we can come back as often as we like.  What a fun place and a fun day.
