Hot Rods and Hot Dogs

Every year Hyrum City puts on a Hot Rods and Hot Dogs fundraiser for the city.  Of course we joined in on the fun!  We got to see so many cool cars:

This was Emily's favorite car, a Chrysler De Soto. It had seats that swiveled to help you get out easier.  It was really nice.

Colby and Logan favored this sporty Polaris Slingshot.  This car was pretty slick.  It only had three wheels so it was actually considered a motorcycle rather than a car.  The owners were really cool and let the kids sit in it and pretend to drive.  They loved it.

And here is a cool one we all liked.  The Hudson Hornet.  It reminded us of Doc Hudson from Cars so we had to get a picture of it too.  The car show was really fun.
After looking at all of the fun cars and checking out the vendor booths, we walked over to the park to play for a bit.  Colby was so strong as he practiced his pull ups.  When we had seen the hot rods, we had to get our hot dog too:

What a fun lunch we had.  After eating, we went across the street to check out the Hyrum Museum. The museum attendant gave the kids an activity to do as we walked around the museum.  They had to find different things in the museum and then mark them off their sheet.  When they were done, they got a treat.

The museum was really cool.  Colby's favorite area was the animal area.  Emily's favorite thing was the old typewriter that really worked.  She had fun typing her name and other little sentences.  It was interesting realizing that we were actually living here now and not just tourists.  We still kind of feel like tourists as we go to things like this.

This was such a fun Saturday.

Memorial Day Outings

Memorial Day weekend was our first official weekend in our new home in Hyrum.  Despite the fact that it rained here for about 3 weeks straight, we had a great weekend.  We came up here for a week from May 11th through May 16th while Emily was out of school for a few days due to end of year testing.  While we were here our new ward members came and moved us in.  It was so nice of them to do it on short notice.  We were going to have some of the Fire guys come move us in on that Saturday but after looking at the weather forecast, which said rain, rain and more rain, we decided to move in on Wednesday instead, before the storm hit.  We talked to our neighbors, the Jones', and they said they would put the word out through the Elders Quorum and get us some help moving.  I could not believe how many people came to help!  We had everything out of the storage unit and into the house or garage within 3 hours.  We were so grateful for the help.  I think this ward will be a pretty good one.  I am also glad we moved in when we did because the rains started the very next day and didn't really let up for about 3 weeks!  I was glad we had a garage to put everything until we found a place for it.  While Russell was at work the kids and I moved in and emptied as many boxes as we could.  It was interesting finding places for everything...  We headed back to St. George on Sunday May 17th for Cassie's Seminary Graduation, Emily's last week of school, and High School graduations.  Finally on May 22nd, we made our last commute to the Cache Valley.  We were finally moved in and here to stay.  We celebrated by having fun over Memorial Day.  First we went fishing in the Blacksmith Fort River just up the road from our house in Blacksmith Fort Canyon:

We also had a picnic with Colby's favorite; hot dogs.  We could not spend much time fishing and picnicking because as soon as our hot dogs were cooked, it started raining again.  We had just enough time to throw our poles in the water for a few minutes, cook our hot dogs, and eat them under a tree before it really started to pour.  We decided to call it a trip and get back in the van.

The kids had a fun outing anyway.  Instead of just heading home, we took a drive up to Hardware Ranch, a big elk reserve.  We didn't see any elk, probably because of the rain, but it was a beautiful drive anyway.

Sunday we went to church for the first time in our new ward.  Everyone was really friendly and said hello to us and welcomed us to the ward.  Then Logan got sick and I had to take him home...  It was a good first day...

On Monday, May 25th, Memorial Day, we had a barbecue with the Phillips'.  It was really fun getting together with family.   The Phillips are really fun to be around too.

The kids had a blast playing with their older cousins.  Stacey took the kids for a ride in the wagon while they waved their flags and pretended they were in a parade.  Then Kristy's friend, Mike, took them for a ride on his long board.  Let's just say they didn't want to get off.

Thanks for inviting us to your barbecue Phillips! We had so much fun.  Oh yeah and we love Uncle Paul's photo bomb in that first picture.  Definitely the perfect photo op.  So far we are having a good time in Logan and slowly but surely getting all of the boxes unpack.  It is definitely a process but we love our new house and all the extra room we have to play in.

Happy Memorial Day!

One Last Visit to the Children's Musuem

With school out now and graduations over with, it was time to bid farewell to St. George and make our way up to our new home in Cache Valley.  Before leaving we told the kids they could pick one place to visit.  They all cheered for the Children's Museum.  So we made one last visit to the St. George Children's Museum.

The boys love dressing up as the firemen and pretending to be Daddy.  Colby lifted that hose like a champ and then dropped it saying it was so heavy!  Emily and Colby also gave us a good puppet show.

There was a new room in the museum since the last time we were there:  A Frozen room!

This was Emily's favorite room of course. In this room, there was a fun sled hill we could ride down.  This was a fun visit to the Children's Museum.  The kids enjoyed the other rooms as well especially the airplane and mechanic room, the store, the farm where they could milk the cow, and of course the princess room.

After leaving the Museum, we bid farewell to St. George and started the long drive to Hyrum. It was weird thinking this was really happening.  We were really leaving our home to start a new life and adventure.  It was exciting at the same time though.  We were finally going to be in our own home, back in a routine, and able to see Russell more than a couple of days a week.  Well here's to new adventures!

GrAdUaTiOn!!!

May is the month for graduations and we had quite a few this month.  Lets start with the most important one: Emily's Kindergarten Graduation!
Emily's graduation was actually 2 weeks before school got out but that's okay.  As part of the Kindergarten graduation, the kindergartners put on a fun little program where they sang a bunch of songs they had learned throughout the year.

The kids did such a good job on their songs.  The favorite song of all was "Tooty Tat."  In this song the kids got to stand in funny ways and stick out their tongue and dance around.  I was so funny to watch.  After the kids were done singing, we went back to the classroom for the little graduation ceremony for her class.  Emily has loved Kindergarten so much.  She just loves school in general.  Anytime there was a break from school like Christmas or Spring Break, she would be so sad.  In fact most kids cry on the first day of school but not Emily, she cried on the last day of school because she did not want to leave.  I hope she stays this excited about school and learning throughout her life.

The next graduation we went to was the Dixie State University graduation:

Traci's new husband Sean graduated with is Bachelor's Degree during this ceremony.  Way to go Sean!

Then we attended two High School graduations.  First was Desert Hills where Justin graduated.

We were all excited for Justin to graduate because we didn't really know if he was going to.  But he did get his diploma!
The most excited people were his parents and family!  After the graduation we all went out for dinner to celebrate.  The only weird thing was that Justin was not there to celebrate with us.  He was on his way to California for his class senior trip to Disneyland.

Congratulations Justin on this great achievement!

Our next high school graduation was Snow Canyon.  Here Cassie and Tyler graduated so we got to see them both at the same time.  First here is Cassie:

We were so happy for Cassie because she graduated with a 4.0!  I consider that the Valedictorian. Way to go Cassie!

And here is Tyler:

Tyler also graduated with high honors with a GPA above 3.75.  Good job Tyler!

We had to get a couple of pictures of the two graduates together.  These two were really excited about Grad Night.  Tyler kept talking about the marriage booth and how many girls he was going to "marry" tonight.  Then all the sudden he got down on one knee and asked Cassie if she would marry him tonight!  We all laughed so hard and Cassie just rolled her eyes and said sure.  It was so funny.

After the graduation we all headed back to the Farnsworth's for a celebratory barbecue.  It was fun to be with family and give Tyler a hard time.

Way to graduates!  Now on to bigger and better things!

Time Flies...

Time has just seemed to fly by these past few months.  I can't believe it is already May and so much has happened to us already this year.  As I was going through my pictures to finally update the blog I found a few funny random pictures and just had to share.

First is this one of Emily.  It was Cat in the Hat day at school so the PTA painted whiskers and noses on all of the kids.  Emily thought she was so cool and wore the whiskers all day.

Next is a picture of Logan in the bounce house at our friends' birthday party.  Our neighbors and the kids little friends, Braxton and Easton, had an "Un-Birthday" party.  Their birthdays are about a month apart so they had their birthday party together in the middle of the two.  It was a cute Alice in Wonderland theme complete with a fun bounce house and a book exchange.  The kids had a blast with all of their friends from the ward.

These are a couple of cute ones of Logan.  First we always have marshmallows when the kids lay down for naps.  Well as you can see Logan barely got one in his mouth before falling asleep!  It was too funny to not get a picture.

And here is a priceless picture of Logan in his favorite spot.  Sitting on Great-Grandma's nap watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  We will miss seeing Grandma everyday and Grandma will sure miss these kids.

The next pictures are of Daddy's new work!

While up to look for houses, we were able to stop by Russell's new fire station in down town Logan and see him in action.  We got a little tour of the fire station and were able to see the cool firetrucks.  The kids also got cool fire hats and sticker badges to take home as souvenirs.  We are excited for Daddy's new job!

Well at least somebody liked the fact that we had boxes everywhere.  While we were packing up our stuff to get ready to move, we had about a million cardboard boxes in our carport ready to be filled.  Well Emily, Colby and Logan had a blast playing in these boxes all day long.  They build garages for their bikes, forts, huts, shops, cars and anything they could think of.  They loved using their imaginations to have fun.

At the end of April Emily had an award ceremony at her school:

She was awarded the Outstanding Math Student award for the month of April.  We were so proud of her.  She received a cool certificate and a gift certificate to Pizza Pie Cafe.  Luckily there is a Pizza Pie Cafe in Logan.  Emily also received her participation certificate for the District Science fair at this ceremony too.

And finally, this is a picture from our new home in Hyrum:
This is Colby sleeping in his cave!  There is a little storage room underneath the stairs in our new house and Colby has claimed it for his cave.  He told me he was going to sleep in his cave during nap time every day.  So here he is doing just that.  I have since put a little carpet remnant in there so at least it has a little padding rather than just the hard concrete.  He is a funny boy.

So there you have it; just a few little snapshots of our crazy life.  Enjoy more to come...
