Family Day Fire Training

Russell has fire training meetings every Monday night with all of the firefighters.  On months that have five Mondays the Fire Department puts on a Family Night and spouses and kids can come to the training.  This was a fun night especially for the kids.  And they even served hot dogs and chips for dinner and we decorated fire truck sugar cookies for dessert!

The full time guys brought out the old Studebaker fire truck and gave all of the kids a ride around the block.  Emily and Colby loved it!

They also got to spray the fire hose.  My kids are getting pretty good at the hose because they get to do it so often.  They tried to knock over the cones at the other end of the parking lot.

After dinner we climbed the big training tower.  The tower is 3 stories high with 6 flights of stairs.

Finally we were able to go into the training house.  They actually fill this house full of smoke and use it to train the fire fighters on what to do in a house fire.  The kids had fun running around and crawling through all of the obstacles in the house.  I had to go out of the house with Logan because it was a little too smoky for him.

This was a really fun night.

Life with Three

What can I say about life with three kids? Well, there is never a dull moment and there is definitely never a quiet moment ...EVER!  Ha Ha Ha! But I wouldn't trade these three knot heads for anything!

Don't they look so innocent like they would never to anything wrong?  Yeah right!

Logan's face in that last picture totally explains how I feel some days!  Some days I just want to pull my hair out and other days I just laugh my head off at some of the things they do and say.  The other day we were playing outside and Colby said the funniest thing.  Our four-wheeler ramps were leaned up against our shed so they looked like a ladder.  Colby decided he was big and started climbing up the ramps.  He had almost got to the top of the 5 foot ramps when I told him to get down.  Without missing a beat, Colby looks and me and says (keep in mind he is only two), "Don't worry, Mom. I'm fine.  Don't worry!"  I couldn't help but laugh out loud.  After I got him down and put the ramps down (because I was worried!), I asked him where he had learned "Don't worry."  It was so funny!  His personality is developing so much.

Emily is loving preschool and learning so much and getting so smart.  A couple weeks ago we learned about seeds and planted bean seeds in plastic bag so we could watch it grow.

And ours grew!!  Well Emily's did.  The one I planted as the demo ended up molding and so I threw it out.  But Emily's grew so fast.  Once the plant started to grow, it seemed like it grew 3 inches every day.  So we transplanted it from the bag to a cup of soil so it could continue to grow.  Emily is so proud of her little plant.

These three are so fun to have.  They definitely keep me on my toes.  Russell and I did learn that we do not go grocery shopping with all of them though.  I hate grocery shopping so I try to only go once a month.  Because of this, when we go we get a lot of stuff and it takes about 2 hours.  Yeah kids don't last that long especially crammed in a shopping cart full of food!  So needless to say, we only did this once and now I go by myself after the kids have gone to bed.  It is so much easier but I don't really know if the workers at Wal-Mart like it.  By the time I go, all of the shelf stalkers are working so they have to work around me.  They have also closed down all of the cashier lines except the 20 item or less line and I definitely have way more than 20 items.  But oh well, it is better than going with three kids!

I don't really remember how it was without these kids but I don't think I would change anything I have now to go back.  One thing I have decided though is I want to wait a while before having any more.  I don't really feel like our family is finished but I do want to wait a while to have more.

I love this crazy life!

Becca & Taylor's Birthday Bash

April 11 is Becca's birthday and April 13 is Taylor's birthday. To celebrate both,  the Hughes' invited everyone over to their house for a fun birthdsy party and cancert for both of them.  The party was so much fun complete with plenty of presents for the girls:

...and dinner and cake for us!  But that wasn't even the best part.  Becca said she wanted a band at her birthday so Lacie and Klint invited thier brother-in-law, Kevin Wilson, and his band over to play at the party.

The band was really good and quite entertaining. They sang country songs, told stories, and even embarassed Becca, Taylor, and thier Aunt Rocinda Hansen. It was also Rocinda's 50th birthday that day so we all wished her a happy birthday too. Taylor and Becca also got to play along with the band in one number. They were really scared and embarassed so they didn't really know what to do but it was fun to watch anyway.
We all had a blast listening to the music and singing and dancing along.
Emily had fun dancing with her old friends, Britlyn and Colton Duwel.  The Duwel's used to live next to us until they moved about a year ago.  It was nice to see them again.  Colby and Emily love going to cousin's house and playing and this was an added bonus to have friends there too and a big party!

Klint also got a kick line going to the song " Kick a Little".  It was so funny to watch.

This party was a lot of fun and it was so nice to see all of the Hughes family again and visit with them.  Happy Birthday Becca and Taylor and thanks for inviting us to your fun birthday party.

Two Months

Logan is now 2 months old!  I took him to the doctor for a check up and he weighed in at a whopping 14 lbs 10 oz (94 percentile) and 24 inches tall  (91 percentile) with a head circumference of 16 inches (91 percentile).  The doctor said he is definitely a big boy!  But he sure is a handsome, happy boy too:

Don't you just love his cute little smile, his double chin, and his wild man hair (second picture)!  We did one of these missionary pictures with Colby when we was this age so I wanted to do one with Logan too.  I think they turned out so good.  Won't it be awesome to see this picture side by side with his actual mission picture!  Now the missionary age has been lowered to 18 for boys and 19 for girls!  Is that crazy!  Since Pres. Monson made that announcement last October, the mission calls have sky rocketed! Anyway, back to Logan...  Like I said he is a really happy baby.  He is always smiling at me when I am talking to him.  He will also smile at Emily and Colby when they talk to him.  He likes to look around and see things.  He pretty much sleeps through the night only waking up once or twice to eat usually between 2 and 4 in the morning.  He tries to say "goo" and talk to us when we are talking to him.  One bad thing though is he likes to puke all the time!  We go through at least 2 or 3 burp cloths a day as well as shirts.  One day I gave him a bath, fed him then laid him down to sleep while I took a shower.  After I got dressed, he had woke up so I picked him up and he puked all down my shirt and his shirt!  I said to myself why did I even take a shower it was just a waste of water!  The doctor says this should pass after about 3 months old so we are hoping it does.  Other than that, he is a great baby and really quite content to just eat and sleep and look around.  Logan loves his big sister and brother and loves it when they talk to him.  Colby will come up to Logan and say "Hi, Baby Boy! Hi!" I need to get it on video because the way he says it and his tone of voice is so dang cute.  Emily will sing to him and talk to him all the time.  Emily also loves to hold him.  Now that Logan is a little bigger and can hold his head up better, I let Emily hold him a lot more.  She will sit in the rocking chair with her arm around him for quite a while which gives me a chance to do a few little things around the house.  She is a great helper.  Emily did try to pick Logan up the other day which made me freak out because it scared me so bad.  I felt bad afterward because she told me she was just trying to help because he was crying and I was making dinner.  I told her she wasn't quite big enough to pick Logan up and she still needed mom or dad's help to do that.  Sometimes even I forget that she is only 4 not 14.

We love having Logan in our family and don't know what we would do without him.  Happy 2 months!

Easter

Happy Easter!!  We had a lot of fun this year with our Easter traditions.  First of all, we colored Easter Eggs:

As you can see, Colby and Emily had a blast coloring the eggs and their fingers!  Colby's hands were green and Russell forgot to put down some newspaper so the counter top was pretty colorful too!  But it sure was fun.

I also got a little ambitious and made a couple of things:

First bunny cupcakes.  I was going to make these for my work but didn't get them done in time so I made them for my family dinner instead.  Second, I made Logan's bunny bag.  I made Emily and Colby each one a couple years ago so of course I had to make a matching bag for Logan!  I like how it turned out.
Saturday we got up early to see what the Easter Bunny had left us.  The kids were excited to get tools to play in the yard.  Colby got a shovel and rake and Emily got a butterfly net and bug cage.  They also got some bubbles, chalk and of course candy.  Next we headed to the Easter egg hunt in Washington.

Colby was so funny at the hunt.  While Russell took Emily to her age group, I took Colby to his. Before the hunt even started, Colby reached under the banner barrier and grabbed a Tootsie Pop.  He then begged me to open it for him. After I did, he waited patiently and ate his sucker until it was time for the hunt.  When they rang the bell for everyone to run and grab the candy, Colby went in to the middle, gathered about five more Tootsie Pops and came back to me and told me he was done.  I kept telling him to go back in and get more candy but he kept telling me no he was done.  So we took our five Tootsie Pops and went to go find Emily.  He is so funny.  We found Emily and she had a bagful of candy and was so excited to show us.

We met up with the cousins for a couple pictures afterward.  It is so fun to see your kids doing stuff you used to do.  I used to come to this Easter hunt every year when I was a kid and now I am taking my kids to it.  What a fun tradition.

That afternoon, we headed to Santa Clara Elementary for our annual Morwood family Easter picnic.

It was fun to see all of my cousins and aunts and uncles.  The kids had a blast playing with cousins and being silly.  Colby has found a new love now.  He discovered he loves playing baseball.  He wanted so bad to go out in the field with the older cousins and play baseball with them.  Unfortunately they told him he was too little.  Too bad Russell had to work that afternoon or he could have helped him play.

Roy also had a little too much fun with the salsa!  It sure looked like he cut his finger off!

Easter Sunday was spent celebrating at church and then we went over to my parents' house for our big Easter hunt:
Logan and Cole and the two grandmas were the first to go out and hunt.  I think that is so funny to call Tami a grandma!

Then all of the other cousins went out in order of age:

There was so much candy but Colby still only wanted the Tootsie Pops!  After he had gathered a few eggs, he just sat right down and started eating his candy while the other grandkids were gathering all of the eggs around him!  Emily loved looking for all of the pink and purple eggs.  Finally though she just started grabbing all the eggs she could find.  This is such a fun tradition too and the kids look forward to it every year.

Happy Easter everyone.
