Hawaii Trip: Day 5: Dole Plantation & The Beach

Our day at the Dole Plantation. We rented a car on Tuesday and we both liked it so much we rented another one for the day. We were suppose to go to Diamond Head first, but the weather on the Waikiki side was cloudy and rainy and Diamond Head was not visible. So instead we went to North shore again to hang out. The Plantation was cool to go and see the different attractions.
Tiff saw a train ride online and she thought it would be cool to go on. The train ride was suppose to show us how they grew pineapple and different fruit trees and Cocoa trees, but instead it was a ran down looking area that was not to impressive. We were both disappointed with the train ride.

While we were waiting for the activities to begin we took some cool pictures of ourselves. Okay maybe Tiff had a cool picture, as for me I look like a head in a pineapple.

Around the plantation they had some pineapple bushes growing.  Above are the different fruit trees and plants we saw on the train ride. The bottom left hand picture is a picture of an actual pineapple field.
Here we are at the Maze. The biggest maze in the world. They had a contest for people doing the maze. Inside the maze they had different plotting points you had to find. These little plots had information about the different Hawaiian islands. Tiff was a great navigator once again to get us through the maze. I figured she was doing great on navigating us around the island that she kept doing the job at the maze. Tiff was taking random pictures around the maze and she got one of my backside and it looks like I am peeing, but no I am not she was trying to get a picture of me. I was moving too fast through the maze when she was taking the picture. We made really good time through the maze with our team work.

After going through the Maze, we stopped at the gift shop/cafe to try the famous Pineapple ice cream.  Let me tell you is was soooo good!  Tiff doesn't even like pineapple and she ate pretty much the whole bowl we were supposed to share!
The next pictures are more pineapple fields we saw as we were leaving the Dole Plantation. We both laughed when we saw 100's of acres of pineapple fields outside the plantation and the one at the Plantation was lame. Oh well at least we got some really good pineapple ice cream and and got some really fun paint on tattoos.  Funny story: Tiffany thought pineapples grew on palm trees, she was surprised to see them growing on the ground on cactus-like bushes. Fun fact: Hawaii supplies a huge percentage of pineapple to California and there it is shipped all over the main land.

After leaving the Dole Plantation, we continued up the island toward the North Shore.
Once we got there, we went to Matsumotos Shaved Ice Store. I had a few people who had been to Hawaii say we needed to stop there. We went on Tuesday when we had a car, but the line was so big we missed out because we had to get the car back. We finally made it back so here we are at the shaved ice store. We were in love with the shaved ice. We didn't even share! The reason why they are a hit, is because they put vanilla ice cream on the bottom and the shaved ice is so fine that it is like eating snow. After enjoying our shaved ice, we went back to the beach and hung out in the sun again.

I dug a big hole for myself in the sand and Tiffany buried me. After she was done she got creative and decided to make me a mermaid not a merman. What can I say, I look funny.
On the same beach, I was digging a big hole when this little crab was in the hole. It is a little white crab and I was surprised I got a hold of it because they move so fast.

Before we got in the water we had to take a picture of our leg tattoos we got at the Dole Plantation. Yes they are funny looking but we had fun when we got them.  I thought for some reason mine was a dragon but I was wrong it is a seahorse. At least the colors on mine is cool. I also like Tiffs, she had hers on longer then mine.
The last picture is another monkey tree on our way back from the North Shore. These trees were all over the island and all of them were perfectly trimmed.  When we got back to Waikiki, we stopped at Leonard's Bakery for some delicious hot malasadas!  They are hot fried Portuguese donuts filled with custard and they just melted in your mouth.  This was another place everyone told us we needed to go to.

We had another great day in Hawaii.  We really wanted this day to be a relaxing day and it turned out to be just that with chilling on the beach and eating shaved ice, pineapple ice cream and Leonard's donuts.
