Happy 6th Birthday, Colby!

Look at this BIG kid. I cannot believe he is 6 already. He was so excited for his birthday.

Don't you just love his camera smile?  I told him I was going to keep taking his picture until he gave me a real smile.  Well this is what I got.  Oh well I'll take it.  The mounds of snow finally started to melt and we were so excited that we took the pictures outside!

Colby is such a good kid.  He has his own ways of doing things but he does have a tender heart.  He likes having fun and being crazy sometimes.  He is also a great student in school.  His kindergarten teacher has many good things to say about him.  Colby is a great reader and also pretty good at his math facts too.  Colby loves his little sister, Charlotte, so much and is quite protective of her.  The one thing he doesn't realize is his own strength with her.  He wants to play with her a lot but sometimes he forgets that she is a baby and plays a little rough.  But he really does love her.

This year for his birthday, Colby wanted to have a Batman birthday.

He was so excited with how the birthday cake turned out.  He wanted to eat it right away.

Colby's party was really fun and we were able to invite all of his friends to come celebrate with us.  His friends loved their Batman masks.

While waiting for friends to arrive, the kids were able to color pictures of different Batman scenes.  Then we got the party started.  First we played Pin the Bat Symbol on Batman.  We told the kids that Two Face had stolen Batman's bat symbol and we needed their help to restore Batman's suit to full power. The kids loved that.  Then Colby wanted to play the Candy Bar Game so we told the kids that the Joker had played a trick on us and wrapped a secret weapon up in this paper.  We had to use our special gloves and spoons to get the weapon out.  They had fun playing this game too and went crazy every time they rolled doubles and got to have a turn.

Then it was present time.  Colby got some pretty cool presents from all of his friends.  His favorites included a new skateboard from us and more Lego's!!  This kid loves Lego's.  He could sit and play Lego's for hours everyday.  Unfortunately, he hates to clean up his Lego's so they are always all over the floor!  Anyway he loved all of his presents.

After the presents were opened, it was time to cut the cake.
Colby wanted the camouflage cake mix we saw at the store but I told him I could make a better cake than that.  Instead of camouflage, I made the inside of the cake yellow and black just like Batman.  Colby loved it.

Colby blew out the 6 candles and served cake to every one. These kids must have been starving because they downed multiple slices of cake and cupcakes!  Colby doesn't like and cannot have ice cream so instead he picked out red, white, and blue Popsicles.  They were just like his other favorite superhero, Captain America.

Finally, we had one more game, Snowball Fight.  Mr. Freeze had frozen Batman and the kids needed to help set him free by attacking Mr. Freeze with snowballs.  We also gave each kid a can of silly string to use as a special weapon too.  So it turned out that the kids thought Russell was Mr. Freeze because they all ganged up on him with the snow fight and silly string.  It was a blast to watch.
Holy Batman we had a great party.  Colby loved hanging out with all of his friends.  Happy Birthday Little Buddy.
