Labor Day

Labor Day was so fun this year.  It was like an extension on summer for us.  We had a blast playing in the beautiful outdoors.  On Saturday, the kids and I went up the canyon to the Hyrum Hydro Plant park.

The kids love this park because it is right next to the river and they love playing in the water.  We packed a picnic and went up there to enjoy the day.  They got soaked, of course, but they didn't care.  Their favorite part was finding sticks to race down the river.  They weaved sticks together to make boats and then watched them float down the river.  They also tried to see how far they could walk down the river before it got too deep or too swift.  Once Emily lost her flip flop and Colby and Logan dove down the river to catch it for her.  Luckily though, I was a little faster running down the bank and was able to catch it before it hit the rapids.
The kids also had a good time building nests in the big tree trunks.  Here is Charlotte sitting in her nest.  After leaving the park, we decided to use up some of our coupons so we went out to eat at Pizza Pie Cafe.  This is the kids favorite place to go.

On Monday, we took advantage of the day off of school and work and headed up to Bear Lake with the kayaks.

We went with our friends, the Checketts, and had a great time kayaking, playing in the water and enjoying the sunshine.  After seeing how much fun we were having with our kayaks, the Checketts decided to buy some too.  This was the perfect trip to take them out together.  As you can see, we had a lot of kayaks to use!

The beach we went to was perfect for us because the water was really shallow for about 50 yards out.  Even Charlotte could touch clear out there.  It was perfect for the kids.  On the shore they loved collecting shells.  Colby and Maddie had a water bottle full of shells by the end of the day.  Another fun thing they liked to do was built sand castles.  The castle Charlotte is posing by was called the Temple.

We had an great time playing.  The water was the perfect temperature, the sun was not too hot, and we just loved relaxing and enjoying the time.  The kids played all day and entertained themselves.  Charlotte even paddled herself around in the kayak again.  The thing the kids liked to do was try to tip everyone over in their kayaks.  There were a lot of dunks but also a lot of laughs.

The beach was really crowded because everyone in Cache Valley and Idaho had the same idea as us.  They all wanted to extent summer and enjoy the water.  The nice thing about having a million kids around though is that other people don't want to move in on top of you.  Crazy kids have a way of scaring people away.  However, we did have one group of people move in by us.  It was a group of college kids and they were very interesting to watch.  Us adults just sat and watched them and laughed.  We all denied that we were ever like that when we were single and in college.  All the girls did was take selfies of themselves and try to impress the boys they were with.  The guys just took selfies and acted really macho.  It was so funny.  When they finally left, we decided we wanted to be cool like them so us old fogies took some selfies of our own.

Oh yeah, we are so awesome!!  We were laughing so hard the whole time.  Russell and Zach took some other funny glamour shots that I didn't include in here.  They were pretty great.  The kids thought we were weird and tried to photo bomb us but we didn't care because we were being cool college kids!

This was such a fun trip.  And thankfully we did not get lice this time...
