We had our Summer Primary Activity today. It was a water party and it was so much fun. The party was so easy to plan and prepare for too. All we had to do was provide the water balloons and squirt guns and the kids entertained themselves for the hour and a half. After setting up, all I had to do was take pictures. So that is what I did:
Logan had a blast roaming free and just playing with any water thing he could get his hands on. Colby also had a good time with all of the big kids. And Emily was in seventh heaven playing with all of her friends on the slip 'n slide and squirting water guns.
My counselor found this awesome water blog on Pinterest and made it for us. The kids LOVED it! It was especially fun for the little kids but the big kids liked to roll around on it too. Unfortunately, by the end of the party we had patched about 10 holes with duct tape before finally saying oh well. What the Water Blob is made out of is thick painter's plastic that has been folded and the sides melted together and then filled with water. It was like a giant water bed and when the kids got tired, they used it like one too. They would lay on it and chill for a little while. The water blob was a big hit.
We also had a fun slip 'n slide that the kids had a blast on. I really hope we didn't kill the grass at the church with this thing but it sure was fun.
Finally the highlight of the day were the water balloons and squirt guns:
The water balloons did not last very long even though we had about 300 balloons. The kids just loved throwing them at each other. Then it was on to the squirt gun wars which kept them entertained all day. I heard the kids yelling "Boys vs Girls!" so I guess the war against each other was boys vs girls. I don't really know who won but I don't think it mattered. One of the teachers, McCall Carson, was walking her kids around and helping them with the water when the next thing I know the whole Primary was ganging up on her and soaking her. Don't worry though, she held her own and was having a good time too. After a fun hour of playing, we ended with Otter Pops as our treat and sent the kids home. This definitely was a great Primary activity and we had a great turn out. I even had a few kids ask if we could do this again. Maybe we will...
