Fun at the Fair

The Washington County Fair was this weekend.  We love going to the fair and this year was especially fun because the kids were old enough to ride on the carnival rides.  We went on opening night because all of the rides were $1.  We had a blast. Before heading to the rides we checked out all of the exhibits and booths.  This is the first time in a long time that we didn't put anything in the fair.  The kids were so excited to get our pictures taken in the Funny Face Photo Booth.
I love how these pictures turned out.  They make me laugh every time I look at them.  After getting our pictures taken, we headed over to the Great Bear Show exhibit.
We got to see all of the black bears do tricks for us and listen to their trainer tell us all about the bears.  Our favorite was the cute little baby bear cub that kept trying to get out of his cage.  Then it was on to the rides!

The kids absolutely loved all of the rides.  Logan especially had a blast.  He drove the cars and held on as the rides went around.  He was so mad when he had to get off at the end of the ride.  Colby and Emily also loved the rides.  They got to ride together on every ride and each time they came around the tracks they waved at me and cheered.  To ride the rides, you had to be 30 inches tall.  Logan is exactly 30 inches so sometimes the people operating the rides would let him ride but sometimes they wouldn't.  On the purple jeep ride, we waited in line for a long time. Then, when it was finally our turn, the operator would not let Logan ride.  Boy was Logan mad!!!  He bawled the whole time Emily and Colby rode and pointed to them as they passed saying "Sissy! Bolby! Ride!"  He was so mad.  So the next ride we went on was the Carousel and he was so happy to ride the "Yeehaws" even if he had to share a horse with Colby.  Russell took Logan on the Carousel a few more times while Emily and Colby rode some of the other rides.

The highlight of our night though was riding the Ferris Wheel:

Emily wanted to ride the Ferris Wheel so badly!  That was the ride she requested first but the line was huge!  Russell decided to wait in line while I took the kids on the other rides.  He probably waited in line for an hour and a half to get on the Ferris Wheel but we finally made it.  This is the view of the fair grounds from the top of the Ferris Wheel.  Yeah we were pretty high up...  The boys rode together in their own seat and Emily and I rode together in our seat.  The kids absolutely loved this ride.  They loved being so high up and being able to see the whole world.  They laughed the whole time.  I, on the other hand, did not do as well.  I really think I have a fear of heights.  I am not bad like some people and totally freak out, but I sure have a really bad feeling in the pit of my stomach every time I am in a high place.  The Ferris Wheel is probably the scariest ride I have ever been on just for the simple fact that it stops right at the top of the wheel and rocks.  Yeah not fun.  But I made the best of it for Emily and put a smile on my face. See?  It was fun riding with the kids and seeing their excitement.  I would do it again for them anytime.
As we were getting ready to leave, we saw the Hughes' on the Ferris Wheel too.  We watched them and then talked to them when they got off.  We had such a fun time at the fair this year.  We can't wait to go back next year.
