Happy 4th of July!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY FROM THE FARNSWORTH CLAN!!!
It was a great an eventful weekend full of fun and adventure. We stayed home this year which has become a regular thing the last couple of years. My family came up and spent the holiday with us and the Phillips clan.  Here we are in our traditional 4th of July wardrobe.

Since we stayed in town this year, I have always wanted to help be part of the MDA Firefighter breakfast held at the Fair grounds during the Cache Valley Cruise In on Saturday. It was a lot of fun being part of the breakfast. One of my co-workers had me get my food handlers permit to be legal as we did this breakfast. Once Tiffany and the kids got there we ate breakfast, and when Emily got done she was all about wanting to help with the breakfast. So I found Mike's daughters who were filling up drink cups and had her help them. She was so excited to help and be part of the MDA breakfast.

After the breakfast, we went to the car show and got to see some amazing cars.

We all had fun picking out our favorite cars and taking pictures of them. We all loved the blue paint job on this old car.  Below are each of our favorites.

Emily's favorite car was the pink Cadillac.  This car was huge!  It was really long but super cool.  Tiffany's favorite car was this maroon car.  I think she liked it because it reminded her of Pine View.  Actually it did have a really cool paint job with 3D-like flames in the maroon paint.

Colby's favorite car was the Bat Mobile.  This thing was awesome and totally a legit Bat mobile.  We all liked this one too.  What made it even better was that Wonder Woman was there too and we all got a picture with her.  Logan's favorite was the Bumble Bee from Transformers.  These yellow Cameros were decked out just like Bumble Bee.  Their license plates even said BMBLBE1 and BMBLBE2.  It was fun to see the older style Camero next to the new Camero.
My favorite was the the Armed Forces Camero. This one was all hand air brushed painted. It was amazing with such great detail. We all had a great time looking at all different types and styles of cars from throughout the years.

Once the walking around was done, it was off to the mountains to go four wheeling.  We spent Saturday afternoon four wheeling up by Black Smith Fork canyon by Hardware Ranch. My Dad was there and also part of the Phillips clan. We went up to Hardware Ranch and parked the trucks and trailers. We headed up the road going north towards the mountains. We made it to Laketown near Bear Lake. It was a great ride and lots of fun. We stopped off and had lunch near some random sheep that were on the mountain. It was fun to hear their little bells.

It has been some time since we have been on our 4-wheeler but we had a great time. There is some amazing country up there. It was nice to be out in nature and having fun with family.  The kids had a great time 4-wheeling as well.  We spent a few hours on the mountain and headed to the Phillips for a late night awesome meal. Well worth the wait.

Sunday (July 2) was a really fun night.  Emily was part of the Cache Valley Children's Chorus for the Hyrum City Patriotic Celebration.  During the program, the USU Alumni Band played while the American Festival Chorus and the Children's Chorus sang patriotic songs.  The program was really good.

Emily had a great time singing with her friends and being a part of this 4th of July celebration.

During the program there was a 21 gun salute for all of the fallen soldiers. There was also a patriotic medley of all of the armed forces theme songs.  During this song we honored all of the veterans in the audience.  It was very touching.

The special guest speaker and conductor for the program was Craig Jessop.  Craig is an amazing conductor and is the director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  He also directs the American Festival Chorus and was a conductor for the Army bands too.  Because of his service in the Army, he was a great speaker on patriotism and love for our country.  Come to find out he was also born and raised in Hyrum so that was cool too.  We thought it was pretty neat that we got to meet a sort of celebrity and get a picture with him.
Monday we went four-wheeling again.  This time I just went with the guys.  We decided to go up Left Hand Fork this time and we drove all the way to the top.  When we got there we were able to see the Gray Cliff Spring coming right out of the mountain.  It was pretty cool and I mean literally cool.  The water was ice cold!  We had a good time riding again.

That night we spent with the Phillips clan again having dinner and fun.

The kids had a blast playing in the pool while they waited for dinner.  They also had a good time playing with cousins Mackenzie and Johnathan.  Traci and Sean flew out from Texas to spend the weekend with us.  It was good to see them again and see Johnathan too.  He and Charlotte are pretty much the same size despite the 4 months difference in age.

After dinner we drove up to the mountain just above the Phillips house and watched the Logan City firework show shot off at the USU Stadium. This firework show is always really good and the company is even better.

Tuesday July 4th was another fun and eventful day.  We spent the morning at the Hyrum City Parade.

This was fun because the whole Farnsworth clan was there.  Jen and Rick came up and spent the night as well as Traci and Sean.  We had everyone together except for Tyler.

Colby and Emily were in the parade this year as part of the Canyon Colt Leadership Team.  They are both on CCLT for the Fall and are excited to help in the school.  They both had a great time decorating their bikes for the parade.  Tiffany and my mom helped them decorate their bikes and they turned out great.  They loved being in the parade and throwing candy from their bikes.  When they saw us, they got really excited.  Colby got so excited that he almost wrecked his bike into the kid in front of him.  Luckily he stopped just in time.  They both threw a lot of candy to us.
After the parade we headed over to the Grand Ole Flag display at the Elite Hall.  While there we were able to see all of the different American flags used over the years.  It was awesome to see how the flag had adapted and changed over the years since our country was founded.

When we got home, we decided we all needed to cool off at the splash pad.  The whole Farnsworth clan headed to the park for some cool fun.

The splash pad was cold and perfect for what we needed.  This was Charlotte's first time at the splash pad and she absolutely loved it!  After cooling down at the splash pad, we headed back home for some fun activities and food. All of my family was there and the Phillips came over as well. I made some killer dutch oven potatoes and roasted hot dogs. We all had a great time talking and watching the kids play around.

We also had some fun laughing moments during the festivities. Uncle Paul got soaked with water when Calen fell off his chair and his cup flew out of his hand.  Then my dad could not stop laughing at Uncle Paul so then Uncle Paul decided to get my Dad wet also. We all laughed at them.  Jonathan loved red jello and decided to wear it all over himself. He was very red and very sticky! I think there was more Jello smeared on his body and the ground than there was in his belly!  In all we just enjoyed each other's company.

Aunt Charlene made some fun confetti shooters that the kid shot star confetti out of. All of the kids thought it was really cool. The confetti shooters were made of toilet paper rolls and a balloon on the bottom. You put the stars in the roll and pull back the balloon and shoot the stars all over the place. It was really cool to watch.  Needless to say, confetti was everywhere.  Good thing the wind blows pretty hard in Hyrum so all this confetti will hopefully just blow away.

This is Charlotte's first 4th of July and she loved it.  She loved being the center of attention and having other kids her size to play with.  She loved playing with Charlie and Johnathan.  She knew how to get her way with those boys too.

After dinner it was time for the Hyurm City firework show.  Well first it was the pre-firework show put on by all of our neighbors.  We loved watching the fireworks all around us.  Then at 10 pm it was the real firework show.
We were really worried that we would not be able to see the fireworks from our yard any more because of the houses being built around us.  But luckily we still had a great view of the fireworks right from our front yard.  I love that we have the best seats in the house!  The kids loved the fireworks.  Even Charlotte liked the fireworks and all the different colors that each one had. She was a great sport even when they were really loud.  After the city fireworks, there was the post-firework show also put on by all of our surrounding neighbors.  We watched fireworks all night and all from our front lawn!

We had a great weekend full of fun and family.

Happy Independence Day!!
