Jessica and Danny got married on September 3 and the whole day was so much fun. We all cursed them for having their wedding over Labor Day weekend but it was worth the wasted three day weekend. I have never seen these two so happy!
The wedding ceremony took place below Staheli Catering near the river. The setting and scenery was beautiful. Below are pictures from the wedding: First the line walking down the aisle. Tami & Josh were first followed by Danny's parents, the bridesmaids and groomsmen, then he ring bearer and the pretty flower girls and finally the beautiful bride and her dad. I played the piano while they walked.
The wedding ceremony was great and the officiator gave some really good counsel and advise. He read from the Family Proclamation and emphasized the importance of families and the importance of loving and supporting each other as a couple. It was actually something I needed to hear as well! After the "I do's" were said and the bride was kissed, we all congratulated the newlyweds. Their smiles were so big!
When everyone had wished Jess and Danny well, they rode off into the sunset on their horse drawn carriage! I thought it was an awesome touch and really gave their wedding a little flare and fun. Emily loved the horse as did the other kids. They actually just rode up to the Washington Elementary where they had a car waiting. After the ceremony we headed to Tami's church building for a luncheon.Danny's parent cooked the best dutch oven potatoes and chicken I have had. It was so good. I loved how this wedding just had a laid back, fun feeling instead of the fancy, uptight feeling most weddings have.
Later that day, we went back to Staheli Catering for pictures before the reception.
We got a new family picture with our family mostly because we were the flash testers for the pictures. Roy needed to test the lighting for the shots and we were the closest ones. That is okay with me because we got a good family picture.
Finally above is our latest family picture of my entire family. There are now 33 of us. The picture we had taken a year ago didn't have Colby or Danny in it. We are growing!
After pictures we headed inside the Dance Hall for the reception or should I say party. It was so much fun. We danced and laughed and had a great time.
Below is a picture of their very creative table centerpieces. Tami had painted and Modge Podged wedding pictures onto wooded blocks and also attached pictures to wires. They were way cute. There are definitely some benefits of having photographer for a dad.
We can't forget the cake. Jess's cake was so amazing. Linda Holt did an awesome job on it. The cake was Topsy turvy and was completely edible including the flowers. Before they cut the cake, everyone told them to smash it in each others faces. Jess and Danny both agreed they would be nice to which we all laughed. Danny served the first piece so nicely to Jess. Then it was Jess's turn and she smashed it into Danny's face! He grabbed another piece and smashed it in her face and then yelled, "You liar!" We all busted up laughing as they smeared cake all over their faces.
Next came the first dance, the Father/Daughter dance, and the garter and bouquet throw. The Father/Daughter dance was not like any you have ever seen. Well it started out that way and then as you can see in the pictures, got a little crazy! They started dancing to a typical wedding song and then the song cut to "Twist and Shout" and the "YMCA" and some other fun songs and Jess and Roy started jamming out. It was so funny to watch and so much like Jess's personality! The garter throw was also very funny. As usual, Danny went under Jess's dress to retrieve the garter. When he came out; however, he not only had the garter but a pair of panties too! (Don't worry he must have had them in his pocket or something because they weren't really Jess's.) We were all laughing. When he threw the garter, Jared jumped higher than anyone and dove for it. When he picked it up, he realized that Danny had actually thrown the panties instead and Jared was grossed out and threw the panties back. We couldn't stop laughing. My brother, Clint, actually caught the garter when it was finally thrown. Hopefully the tradition will come true and he will get married next. Becca caught the bouquet but hopefully she doesn't get married next because she is only 9!
We spent the rest of the night dancing and dancing:
Finally the party ended and it was time to see the newlyweds off. We lit sparklers and threw sunflower seeds at them as they left. The bridesmaids and groomsmen and a few others including Jess's brothers had a great time decorating the car. When they got in the car, Danny sped away to their honeymoon. Congratulations Jess and Danny, we wish you the best of luck in your new life together!
