Waiting for Baby

We are still waiting for Baby to make his grand entrance into the world.  My official due date is January 30 which is 4 days away! I can't believe how fast this pregnancy has gone by.  And I can't believe I have less than a week to go!  Am I ready? Yes and No. I am not ready in that I am scared to have three kids!  I really don't know what to expect with three.  Everyone tells me that the transition from two to three was really hard because you are now out numbered.  You have two hands, and  two parents, but now you have three kids to manage.  I am hoping and praying this baby will be an easy baby like Colby was.  Really good natured and just content to eat and sleep and be loved on.  On the other hand, I am ready in that all of the baby clothes are washed, all of the baby stuff is out of storage, and all of my planned baby projects are complete.  Here are a few things I have been working on:

Of course we needed a car seat canopy.  I love the cute little zoo animals.  I am mad though that I cut the fabric the wrong direction so the animals are sideways.  Oh well I wasn't buying more fabric and really once I got it put together it didn't really look that bad.  I also made a couple more receiving blankets and burp cloths.  We really already have a bunch of receiving blankets from Colby but I figured the new baby needed at least a couple that were his own and not hand-me-downs.

My diaper bag from Colby was getting really hashed and dirty so I decided to make a new one.  Now that I will have three kids, the bag needed to be really big to hold all of our stuff and the baby stuff too.  Well one thing about this bag, it is really BIG!
As you can see it holds a lot of stuff.  There is a center divider in it so the baby stuff can go on one side and all of my stuff can go on the other side.  There are a lot of inside pockets as well as four big outside pockets.  I also added a bit to the pattern by adding an inside loop and clip to clip my keys on so they do not get lost inside the never ending depths of the bag.  I also added a small pouch to put the baby's pacifier in so that it will stay clean and not get lost in the bag either.  I love the colors of the fabric and even though it is huge, I am excited to use it.

Here are some things I made to put in the bag:
First, I made this diaper and wipes pouch.  One side of the pouch holds the travel wipes case and the other holds the diapers.  This way if we need a diaper change, I just have to grab this pouch and go.  Second, is the travel changing pad. I found these really cute Fire Fighter fabrics in the remnant piles so they were only about a dollar each.  I told Russell I made these things with Fire Fighter fabric so that means the diaper changing is his job!  And finally a Nursing cover.  A definite must have in a diaper bag for those feeding on the go.

Finally I made some little baby Toms for the baby and a bigger pair to match for Colby.  I also made a matching pair of the baby ones for Jessica's baby too.  They turned out way cute:

And to match the shoes, I made all of kids matching clothes for church.  I think they turned out so cute.  I can't help be think the little pants and shoes look like old man clothes!  But I also think that is why they are so cute because they are mini old man clothes.  Traci said I should find a couple of those old man hats to go with them.  Emily is really excited about her new dress too.  It is a little brighter that the boy's clothes but that is OK if she stands out a bit because she is the only girl.

I am also am ready to have the baby because I am tired of not being able to bend over to pick something up off the floor!  Luckily I have Little's that can reach stuff on the floor much easier than I can.  Emily and Colby are great helpers that way.  At my last doctor's appointment though  I was still only dilated to a 1 and only about 50% effaced.  Dr Astle asked me if I wanted to be induced or just go naturally.  I told him I didn't really care either way.  I would prefer to go naturally but whatever he thought was better.  He said it is better to go naturally then when he checked me he said I wasn't even ready to be induced yet.  So I go back to the doctor on Monday and we will see if anything has changed.  By then, I will be close enough to the due date we can decide what to do.  In the meantime, I have been working 10-11 hours a day trying to get everything done with my clients' year end accounting and tax returns.  I am pretty sure I won't get everything done (especially the tax returns) but I want to get them as close as possible so that I don't add too much to my great co-workers' tax season load.

Other than that, we are just waiting and praying for a healthy baby (oh and trying to decide on the perfect name).
