Christmas Decorating

We did things a little different this year for Christmas decorations.  Instead of putting all of our Hallmark ornaments on the tree, we decorated our tree with all homemade ornaments.  I really like how simple but nice it is.
The kids drew pictures of Christmas things and put their pictures on the tree.  We also made red, white, and green paper chains to wrap around the tree as garland.  Emily and Colby even put their race metals from the Run Run Reindeer on the tree as an ornament.  One fun activity we did as a family was make popcorn and cranberry garland for the tree too.

I have always wanted to do this so this year we did it!  Each of the kids had their own needle and thread and made their own garland.  They had fun poking the cranberries and popcorn and making their own patterns.  They especially liked eating the popcorn but not so much the cranberries.  Logan's face was priceless when he bit into a cranberry.  Needless to say he spit it right out!  I think he thought it was a grape.

I love how the garland turned out and it looks so good on our tree,
Here is Emily.  She wanted to type a little bit about the popcorn and Christmas:

"The popcorn is so good to me I like it so much it makes me want to freeze.
Funny popcorn looks different ways they look so much funny!
Jingle bells jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh.
Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul with a corncob pipe and a button nose and two eyes made out of coal.
Its starting to look a lot like Christmas when all the bells ring. I love popcorn so much!"

She is getting so smart!  I hardly helped her at all.

Another fun Christmas decoration we did together as a family was made gingerbread houses.

These little houses were so fun to make.  We each made our own house. The kids decorated their own by choosing their own candy and showing us where to put it.  I think we ended up eating a lot more candy than should have...
Don't you think they turned out so cute!  We love them.  Colby and Logan have slowly eaten all of the candy off of their houses since we made these.  The little sneaks.

Last weekend we had a girls craft day at my mom's house.

My sisters and their daughters and Haley was there to make this cute Christmas craft.  Here is Emily's and mine.  I think they are so nice.  Emily says she had a lot of fun making this beautiful craft.

Our house is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  In only ten days it will be here.  This month has gone by so fast.
