Emily's Baptism and Charlotte's Blessing

October 8th was a pretty special day for our family especially Emily and Charlotte.  This was the day Emily got baptized and Charlotte got blessed.  Emily's baptism was such an awesome experience.  As a parent, watching your child get baptized is one of the best things ever.  We are so proud of Emily for making the decision to be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  As we were preparing Emily for baptism, we talked about the different covenants she would make, we talked about Alma and the people he baptized at the Waters of Mormon, and we talked about what it meant to be a member of the church, what she would have to do and the blessings that go along with it.  We asked her if this was something she wanted to do and without a doubt she said, "Yes!"  She was so excited and could not wait for this day.  She told us it was going to be the best day of her life and it turned out to be just that!

On the morning of the 8th, we got everything ready and headed to the Stake Center.  After getting dressed in their white clothes, Russell and Emily were ready for the baptism.  Russell was so happy to baptize his first child.

This was also a special day for Alex.  Because Emily and Alex's birthdays are so close, we decided to have Emily and Alex get baptized on the same day.  That way, our family could all be together to see the baptisms rather than split it on different days.  Emily and Alex were happy to share this day and be baptized together.  It was also nice to have all of our family up here in Hyrum to share in this special day.  All of the Farnsworth's and Morwood's were here.  Our house was pretty full and hectic for a few days but it sure was fun.  My parents, the Hughes, Tami, and Clint and Haley stayed at our house while the Farnsworth's stayed with Paul and Charlene.  Clay's family stayed with Shauna's family and Terral's family stayed in Lehi at her in-laws.  It was so fun to have everyone there to support us.

Emily and Alex also shared this special day with a little boy, named Kale Frost, from our ward.  He had a lot of family supporting him too.  Between the three kids' families, we pretty much filled the whole chapel at the stake center!

The baptism program was really nice. Traci spoke on baptism and a member of the Frost family spoke on the Holy Ghost.  Then all of the kids sang "When I am Baptized" while Jacee accompanied on the piano.  Then the ordinances were performed.  Seeing Emily be baptized was one of the best moments.  I was in tears and it was definitely a proud parent moment.  Russell gave a wonderful blessing during the confirmation.  Emily is officially a member of the Church now with the Holy Ghost as her constant companion!  The Spirit was so strong.  I hope Emily remembers this day and the feelings she felt for as long as she lives.

After the baptism program was over, the Frost family left and we did Charlotte's blessing.  We decided to do the blessing on the same day as the baptism so that all of our family could be there and not have to make two trips.  We also decided this would be best for those travelling so that they could travel back home on Saturday rather than have to stay an extra day for Sunday.  It turned out great because everyone was there.  Russell also gave an amazing blessing to Charlotte.  Another proud parent moment!  Charlotte was so good during the whole day and was alert and looking around during the blessing.  The circle of priesthood holders helping with the blessing and Emily's confirmation was so big but that is so wonderful to me!

After the baptism and blessing, we went outside to the Stake Pavilion for lunch.  First though we took a bunch of pictures so we could remember this great day.

These are the kids this day was all about!  Congratulations Emily and Alex for deciding to be baptized.  We cannot forget the special sisters that share this great day too.  Emily was happy to share this day with Charlotte.  They even had matching white dresses for the occasion made by Grandma Morwood.
These are the awesome men that were in the circle with both girls.  Thanks guys!

And here are some fun cousins:

All of the Farnsworth grand kids were there so we had to get a picture.  The next picture is of some cousins and their kids.  Remember a few months back when we had a pregnant belly shot of Traci, Stacey and me?  Well here is the after shot of the cute babies that came from those bellies.  Johnathan is 5 months old and Charlotte and Charles (born a week apart) are 1 month old.
Emily's friends Ayzleigh and Jadaci came to her baptism too.  Jadaci left before we could get a picture but here is Emily with Ayzleigh.  Emily was so happy to have her friends at her baptism.

For the luncheon we had BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and salads.  It was great to have the help of my mom and sisters, as well and Jen and Traci, to put this together because while we were getting pictures, they set everything up and got the food started to serve.  Everyone had a good time talking and visiting.  A couple of my cousins that live in the Valley came as well.  It had been a while since I had seen or talked to Cami and Daniel and their families.  I was glad I thought to invite them.  Cami told me she was happy I invited her too because she said it seems like she misses out on a lot of family events because she lives far away.  She said it was nice to be with family again.  I am glad they came!  We really need to do more with these cousins...

After the luncheon, we headed back home.  The Hughes, Tami, and Terral went shopping at the awesome places in Cache Valley (Pepperidge Farm, Lazy One, Gossners, etc.) and Russell and the kids headed to the park with the Farnsworth's while my parents, Charlotte and I just hung out at home and relaxed.   It was nice and quiet!  Then everyone came back home and the kids got to spend the rest of the night playing with their cousins!  Emily said the only thing she wanted to do was play with her cousins so she got to spend the whole day with cousins from both sides of the family.  Colby and Logan loved it too!
We loved having family in town visiting us.  Probably the thing we miss the most about St. George is being so close to family.  The kids miss playing with cousins and having fun at grandparents' houses.  But it just makes times like this even more special.  Everyone went home on Sunday and we were back to our old quiet routine.  We miss everyone...

This was a great weekend.  We are so proud of Emily and her decision to be baptized.  Stay strong and true to the gospel and the Holy Ghost will be with you always!
