Girls Week

While the boys were off hunting and having a "boys week," Emily, Charlotte, and I had fun at home having our own "girls week."

We had a good time having our own adventures as well as relaxing without the boys.  To start off the week, we spent some time at the American Heritage West Center at their Fall Festival.

While there we enjoyed the funny gunfighters, and we got to go back in time and play some pioneer games.  We made candles and walked on stilts and even chased a ring and stick game.  Next Emily   pretended she was an Indian squaw coming out of her tepee:

We also got down on the farm and learned how to press apples for cider and shuck corn in a corn husker.

The farm animals were fun too. Emily even got to milk a cow for the first time.  She said it was actually pretty hard to get the milk out!  Our favorite was of course the pony rides.  We love riding the ponies every time we come to the Heritage West Center.

Before leaving we also rode the train, perused the woodworking and millinery shops and raced through the corn maze for the second time this year.  This time there was a little scavenger hunt through out the maze where we had to find these signs and if we found them all, we got hot chocolate at the end.

We had a great time at the Fall Harvest Festival this year.  After getting our much loved kettle corn, we took the wagon ride back to the parking lot and headed home.  That night we celebrated our boy-free weekend by going out to eat at Texas Roadhouse and then Pumpkin Shakes at Arctic Circle.

That week during school, Emily's class had a fun field trip to the ice skating arena and the North Logan Pumpkin Walk.  Charlotte and I were able to tag along and help with the class.

Emily had a blast at the ice skating arena.  She and her friends had a lesson at skating and learned how to get up when they fell by the ice skating instructors.  After their lesson, they were able to free skate for a little while.  This was Emily's second time ice skating and she did much better this time than last time.  She did not fall nearly as often and she didn't even need to use the little walkers on the ice either.  She said it was so fun.

When the kids were done eating lunch after ice skating, we headed to the Pumpkin Walk.

We enjoyed seeing the pumpkin scenes again.  All of the kids had their own favorites and pointed out all of the ghosts in each scene.  Emily had fun with her friends.  Here is a picture of all of her friends in her class:

The kids especially liked the photo props.  One of the moms took one picture of each of them in a prop.
Here are the girls I was able to hang out with during this field trip.  Marya, Nicole, Gracie, Emily, and Izzy.  These girls were really fun and nice girls.
Another fun thing we did together this week was go to the pumpkin patch and find some good pumpkins for our house at Halloween.  Emily had a good time picking out a pumpkin for each of us.  We got all of these pumpkins at this little pumpkin patch on the Highway.  The prices were amazing too.  We got all 7 pumpkins and some squash for only about $6.  This little patch just might become a Fall tradition for our family from now on.

This was such a fun week together just us girls.  We had a great time together and it was really nice to spend one on one time with Emily.

On Thursday, the boys came back home and we were happy to be back together again.
