Family Day Fire Training

Russell has fire training meetings every Monday night with all of the firefighters.  On months that have five Mondays the Fire Department puts on a Family Night and spouses and kids can come to the training.  This was a fun night especially for the kids.  And they even served hot dogs and chips for dinner and we decorated fire truck sugar cookies for dessert!

The full time guys brought out the old Studebaker fire truck and gave all of the kids a ride around the block.  Emily and Colby loved it!

They also got to spray the fire hose.  My kids are getting pretty good at the hose because they get to do it so often.  They tried to knock over the cones at the other end of the parking lot.

After dinner we climbed the big training tower.  The tower is 3 stories high with 6 flights of stairs.

Finally we were able to go into the training house.  They actually fill this house full of smoke and use it to train the fire fighters on what to do in a house fire.  The kids had fun running around and crawling through all of the obstacles in the house.  I had to go out of the house with Logan because it was a little too smoky for him.

This was a really fun night.
