Lagoon!

For Fall Break this year we decided to do our big family vacation for the year.  Our summer was pretty much taken over with health issues so we didn't get to do a big trip during the summer this year.  Now that I am done with chemo and feeling much better, we decided it was time for our trip.  We had never been to Moab and seen everything down there so we decided that would be our trip this year.  We had a great vacation and there was so much to see and do in Moab that we are now planning to go back again next year.

To start off the long weekend though, we spent the day at Lagoon.  The kids had won two free tickets to Lagoon at the Red Ribbon Run a few weeks ago so we were able to put them to use.  We had a blast!  The first thing we did at Lagoon was get our picture taken at the Pioneer Village.

I love these old time photos.  I think they are so cute.  The boys wanted to be cowboy outlaws and Emily wanted a fancy dress so we were Southern Bells.  We (OK, I) was still a little paranoid about lice so we were totally inspecting every hat we looked at before trying them on.  Luckily we were safe and luckily I still have no hair!  I think my favorite picture is the funny one of Colby shooting us all.

After our pictures, it was time to have fun on the rides!
Because we went in October, Lagoon was doing their "Frightmares" exhibits.  We only went to the kid friendly ones because the rest would have been too scary for us.  The first one we went to was the Scary & Crow's Straw Maze in the Pioneer Village.

As we walked through the straw maze we saw lots of fun fall scenes and learned some pioneer and harvest facts.  The kids even got some prizes and treats throughout the maze.  It was cute.  Their favorite was the train conductor station that gave them all train whistles.   I liked the Wanted Poster photo booths for the kids.  The best was the one for Charlotte that said "Wanted: Sour Puss Jones for being just plain ornery!"  She was so ornery all day because I made her stay in the stroller rather than run around and get lost in the crowd.

The other Frightmare attraction we went to was the Spook-A-Boo Walk Thru.  This was a kid haunted house that had different scenes and people dressed up as race car drivers, 50's waitresses, witches, mummies, and other fun scenes.  The kids got more treats and prizes from this attractions too.

No trip to Lagoon would be complete without riding every ride possible!  And we did just that.  We rode every kid ride there and some of the bigger rides too if the kids were tall enough:

The kids all had a blast.  Some of our favorites were the Odysea, the Dino Drop, Bombora roller coaster, and Emily and Russell had fun on the Bumper Cars.  Charlotte absolutely loved the Carousel and did not want to get off.  It was the only ride she could go on and she loved riding her dog.

Another ride we could all go on was the Train Ride:

We took up a whole car and chugged around the park looking at all of the animals.
It was exciting to see all of the animals in the Lagoon Zoo as we drove passed in the train.  We were able to see lions, tigers, zebras, camels, elk, deer, and much more.  The kids liked seeing all of the wildlife.

Being at Lagoon was a nice get away for us to just have fun. As you can see, Charlotte was worn out and the rest of us were too after the fun day of running around.

There were so many people at Lagoon because of Fall Break but we didn't care.  We were still able to do everything we wanted to do during the day.  Here are the kids eating lunch while they waited for Emily and me to ride the Tidal Wave.  They had a good time.

By the end of the day, we were hungry and ready to call it a night.  We headed back to the truck and trailer for dinner before heading on to our next destination, Moab.  We still had a long way to drive that night so we hit the road driving through Salt Lake to Spanish Fork and through Provo Canyon.  There we hit I-70 to Green River.  By the time we got to Green River, it was really late like 1 or 2 am.  Russell was really tired and Charlotte was really tired of being in her car seat by this time.  We decided to stop for the night in Green River at a gas station and get some sleep.  It looked really risky and ghetto but we were safe through the night thankfully.  The next morning we headed south the rest of the way to Moab.

We had a great time at Lagoon and it was a fun start to our vacation.
