STEM Fest

The kids school has a lot of fun activities and one of them is the STEM fest. This is a fun time where the students can see and do different type of science projects. It focuses on hands on learning skills in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). It was a great time for me and the boys. The first activity we did was filling a long plastic bag with our own air. We would breath in it and then move the air down into the bag and after a lot of breathing the bag fills. Colby and Logan tried to fill it and they ran out of breath, so I had to finish the rest.

After this we went and found the marble maze game and this is where we lost Colby to the rest of the activities. He was hooked and loved playing with them. He loves these kind of put together games and watching the outcome.  While Colby was playing around, Logan and I went on and had fun at each of the different activities. One place we learned about weight displacement with metal and aluminum foil. If the metal was not placed right the aluminum would sink. He loved just dropping the metal right in and watching it sink. After this we went to dig in some dirt and look at the small little pieces in them.

We finished up driving a handmade remote control Erector set. They loved it. The last thing we did was make a track for a little car that reads the colors on a paper and it tells it the directions on where to drive and spin. I don't know how it did it but it was cool.  The whole time was so much fun and great for the boys. It was also a good boys night out.
