Christmas Concerts and Recitals

Tis the season to be jolly with lots of fun concerts with the kids. Emily and Colby are both doing choir this year and they both love it. They had their yearly Christmas concert and they did a great job. It is fun hearing them sing the songs they are practicing around the house.

This year their concert was full of Christmas songs from popular Christmas movies.  Some of these included songs from Polar Express, Home Alone, The Grinch, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and more.  They were all really great.  Emily even had a solo singing part in the song from The Sound of Music, "These are a Few of my Favorite Things."  She did an amazing job singing her solo.

The kids are also doing a great job in playing the piano. They have come a long way since Let's Play Music. Colby has really come a long way with his piano.  He only started private lessons in August but is already caught up with or ahead of some of the kids that have been taking lessons for a year  He likes to practice and does it without complaint.  Colby did a great job on his recital piece and had memorized his song. He played "Silent Light."

Then Emily and Colby played a duet together. It was fun to hear them practice at first. They did not sync together at all. They were telling each other to not go so fast and count, or stop doing it that way. It was funny. As soon as they got over themselves and worked together they did great. They played "Good King Wenceslas." They were great together.

Emily also did an amazing job on the song she played. She played "Carol of the Bells." Emily loved playing this song and did so everyday with no arguments. She had it down perfectly and played it memorized at the recital.

They both did an amazing job at the recital and we were so proud of them.  I love seeing their progress and their enthusiasm for music.  It makes all of the payments and arguments to practice worth it in the end.  Good job kids!!
