Decorating the Tree

This year, decorating the tree was a lot of fun because Emily could help. She loved taking the ornaments from me and giving them to Russell to put on the tree or have him help her put them on the tree. She especially loves the lights on the tree and loved helping Russell put the star on the top.
Emily was a really good helper with the ornaments. Here she is put in on one of her My Little Pony ornaments. It actually took us a couple days to decorate the tree this year because we only did a little bit at a time. The first day we put on the lights then Emily and I put a few ornaments on the next day as well as decorate the rest of the house and finally the third day, I was tired of having all of the boxes all over the house so we spent the rest of the night decorating the tree and house and sent the boxes back outside.
And here is our final product! Not necessarily Jubilee of Tree's worthy but it works for us. Emily loves pointing to and showing off her favorite ornaments anytime people come over. She also loves the Christmas lights. She tells me everyday to "Turn on our Christmas mom!" So I go plug in our tree lights. One strand of our tree lights sing Christmas songs and Emily has figured out how to turn them on so whenever I get tired of listening to the songs and turn the sound off she goes right over and turns it back on saying "Listen to the music mom!" She is a stinker! We also have musical decorations around the house and she has figured out how to turn them on too so our house is full of Christmas music all the time whether we like it or not. Some of the decorations don't have batteries yet so when she tries to turn them on they won't work so she tells me to "Go to the Dollar (store). Need batteries!" I tell her okay but still haven't done it. When we ask Emily if she wants to go see Christmas lights she says "No, Christmas at our house." and points to the tree. She is perfectly content on just looking at our Christmas decorations but does like the other decorations when we go out.
Russell and I have been busy making Christmas gifts for our family and Emily too. We are hoping to get everything done by Christmas!
