May has been medical month in the Farnsworth household! Just as we had paid off all of our medical bills too! First Logan spends the night in the hospital. Then we took Colby to get his feet checked out. Now Emily had to get stitches.
Yep she cut her hand. Well it was a total accident. Russell had an Exacto blade in his pocket (with a safety cap on it) and somehow the blade poked through the safety cap and his pants pocket without him knowing. Then Emily ran up to him and grabbed his pocket while she walked with him and sliced her hand. Russell couldn't figure out why Emily started screaming all of the sudden. Then he noticed her hand and the blade sticking out of his pocket. The cut was pretty deep so after wrapping her hand up, we rushed to InstaCare for stitches. Emily was really brave through the whole thing. I went back with her and tried to keep her mind off her hand by reading her books. I held her so tight while she screamed as the doctor numbed her hand. I was even crying while they did it. Once her hand was numb, the awesome nurse got her talking about Princesses while the doctor gave her four stitches. Luckily she didn't harm any muscles or tendons. When they were all done, the nurse asked her what color of bandage she wanted. Pink was of course her first choice, but they didn't have any so she settled for her second favorite color, purple.
Now she cannot get her hand wet which is really hard to do in the summer. Each night Russell puts on a new dressing and he had some pink Co-Ban so we alternate between pink and purple. Sometimes Russell gets creative and uses both colors. We go back in 10 days to get the stitches out.
This all happened on Thursday. On Wednesday, Grandma Morwood fell again. This time she was outside in her driveway. She was able to get back in the house though and call Janet to take her to the ER. Luckily she didn't injury her hip again. She fell on her nose and got a little fracture in it. She also fell on her hand and had to get stitches. She looks pretty beat up but she is doing okay. So now Emily and Grandma have matching stitches in their right hands. Russell changes their bandages together each day. I wanted to get a picture of them together with their war wounds but neither Emily or Grandma would let me. They are both doing much better now.
