Girl's Camp

This was Emily's first year attending Girls Camp with the Young Women.  She had a blast being with all of the girls.  Here she is to tell you about it:
At Girls Camp the theme was The Greatest Show and my group was the Lion Tamers.  In our tent there was Cami Davis, Anna Davis, Callie Heiniger, Addie Oyler, and me.  There were going to be a few others too but they didn't come to camp. The first thing The Lion Tamers and I did was set up our tent and unpack.  After we unpacked we did an activity that had a theme to it that was a Million Dreams from the Greatest Showmen.

For the activity we did craft where we made a necklace and a key chain. With the activity there was a lesson about how we need to have Heavenly Father in our plans/dreams of the future.
Afterward we relaxed and then ate dinner of Navajo Tacos.  After we ate dinner me and Callie Heiniger went down to the river by our camp and looked around.  Then my group and I worked on our parody for the next day.  The parody that we were doing went to the song from Tangled, "When Will my Life Begin."  That night the older girls did a prank/tradition on us younger girls and took us hunting a Snipe from the movie Up.  I didn't quite believe the snipe was real but I was kind of scared at the beginning though.  It was a lot fun.  We had to use toothpaste to "attract" the Snipe.  After we did the hunt, Sister Walton did a fireside.  That night I didn't get much sleep.  At two in the morning Addie Oyler, Callie Heiniger, and I threw glow sticks at each other from the Snipe hunt while Cami Davis and Anna Davis were sleeping.  That same day I saw 3 deer, one deer I saw was it seemed like 5 yards away!  That was probably the closest I've ever been to a deer.

On day two we woke up and we wore our camp shirts and ate breakfast, then we braided our hair and had a small Come Follow Me lesson by Julia Bunce and Ellie Oyler.  Afterwards we had personal study time and we then did a service project where we cleaned up the campsite pathways.  We also made some friendship bracelets.  After the service project my group and I prepared lunch and then worked on our parody for that night.  Then we took Girls Camp pictures with everyone in their camp shirts.  We had free time afterwards where some of us waded in the river.  Also during free time we played some games like Nertz, which I learned is like Dutch Blitz, and a game called Bunny Bunny, which is a super fun game we played with the everyone.  After dinner we did a really fun activity where we sang our parodies with our group and in between each group the leaders did fun little "commercial breaks" where they advertised fun things like a sleeping pill so you don't hear the noisy young women during the night and to give the noisy young women for quietness at night.  Then we hung out and played more Bunny Bunny then we got ready for bed.  That night in our tent, my group and I talked and had fun.

On our last full day of camp that morning we went on a hike together that was really fun.  At the end of the hike up, Ally Taylor, Brooklyn Davis, Lyla Speth, and I asked if we could hike up further and we did and had a lot of fun hiking together.  After the hike we had another Come Follow Me lesson by Ally Taylor and Mady Hansen.  Along with the Come Follow Me lesson, Sister Bunce taught us lesson based of the song "Tightrope" from the  Greatest Showmen about marriage and how is like tightrope.  Then we had personal study time and waded in the river again.  Then it was the Camp Olympics which sadly the Lion Tamers lost.  In the Camp Olympics we did fun games like Guard Your Throne or something like that, where you have to guard your camp chair from being hit by a soccer ball while trying to hit the other teams chairs with the soccer ball for them to be out, and we also had someone from our group recite the Young Women's Theme memorized and correctly to get points.  After the fun Camp Olympics we had free time we talked and waded in the river some more.  After dinner we sang our parodies again and the leaders did their "commercial breaks" again for the leaders who camp up that night and weren't there the night before because the skits were funny and we didn't want them to miss out.  Afterwards we had a Testimony Meeting which was very spiritual, you could really feel the spirit strongly as each of the girls and leaders bore their powerful testimonies.

The very last day of camp, we ate breakfast and had a Come Follow Me lesson which Anna Davis and I taught.  Afterwards we packed up and then signed journals.  Lastly we cleaned up the campsite and bathrooms. Then we said goodbye to our fun Girls Camp knowing that we will always remember our Girls Camp experiences forever.  I had so much fun and I can't wait for Girls Camp next year.
