Happy 4th of July

We stuck around town for the 4th of July this year. It was Russell turn to work on the 4th this year so we couldn't really go any where anyway.  It was too blasted hot to really go to the festivities in town (and I didn't want to try and watch three kids in the big crowds).  So we hung out at home until that night.

We dressed in our festive red, white and blue clothes.  I also had fun doing Emily's hair in festive star braids. When I showed her the picture she got all excited.

That night we headed to Tami's house for a barbecue with the Pryor's and the Hughes'. Clay's family was in Disneyland and Legoland and everyone else had escaped the heat and were up on the mountain.  While we were cooking our meat, it started to rain!  It only rained for about 10 minutes but it was enough to cool the place off a bit.  After we ate, we headed up Foremaster Road to watch the fireworks.  Pretty much everyone in St. George had our same plan because there was no where to park.  We finally parked illegally in front of a Stop sign (Don't tell!)
The firework were cool.  I wish I knew how to use my camera better so that I could get better shots.  The city shot fireworks off at two locations this year; the Sunbowl and the Red Hill.

After the fireworks, a structure fire page went out reporting a fire at a house in our ward.  We dropped Russell off at the fire station so he could go help and then went back to Tami's to light more fireworks.

The kids had a blast with the Sparklers, snakes, poppers, candles, and other fireworks.  We tried to draw cool things with the sparklers while taking a picture but I think I need a slower shutter speed or something.  In the bottom picture Jess, Lacie, and Tami were trying to write USA.  We only got about half of the letters.  Oh well...

Luckily the fire in our neighborhood was only a trash fire not the actual house so Russell got cancelled and was able to meet us back at Tami's for our last fireworks.  The kids were getting tired so we headed home after that.

Happy Independence Day!
